Pep Guardiola is set for a £50million Manchester City windfall

Manchester City are set to receive £50million as further reward for their truly stunning 2022/23 season where they won three trophies.

Pep Guardiola and his players won the FA Cup, Premier League and Champions League to complete a historic treble and they are aiming to repeat those accomplishments in this campaign. Liverpool currently sit top of the table but Man City are just one point behind Jurgen Klopp’s men.

They also have a foot in the Champions League quarter-finals following their 3-1 victory over Copenhagen in the last-16 first leg, while they will soon have a chance to go into the next round of the FA Cup with their fifth round tie against Luton Town set for next Tuesday.

After winning those three competitions last season, City earned £300m in prize money and more will be on the way if they can win more trophies. However, a £50million windfall has already arrived for Guardiola’s side after they won the Club World Cup back in December with a 4-0 win in the final against Fluminense, according to Sunday’s print edition of the Daily Star.

On Saturday evening, the reigning champions picked up another league win with a narrow over Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium. Phil Foden netted in the first half and the visitors were required to survive a nervy few moments as the Cherries searched for an equaliser.

Following the win, Guardiola made an honest admission of his players that will likely send a warning to all the clubs City are battling against for trophies. “They are supermen, honestly. The mentality. Our fans have to be so proud of the guys. I don’t know what happens end of the season but I will be there close to them.”

Following their victory, title rivals Arsenal beat Newcastle 4-1 which saw the gap between the two teams close down to just one point. Just three points separates Liverpool, Arsenal and Man City with that margin likely to change soon as the latter head to Anfield for a huge clash against Jurgen Klopp’s side at the beginning of March.

Robbie Earle has said that if Manchester City won the Premier League title this season, they would be the best team in top-flight history.

The Citizens, who are currently aiming to make history and become the first team to win the title four times in a row, have Liverpool and Arsenal around them at the top of the table.

With the title race now in full swing, one pundit has dropped a claim on how Pep Guardiola’s side should be viewed if they end up lifting the trophy again.

Earle says City will be the best ever if they win four in a row

Speaking in a recent video shared on the NBC Sports YouTube channel, Earle had this to say about City and what their status would be if they were to win the Premier League title again this season.

He said: “It’s this period, this third of the season where Manchester City kick into gear and everybody expects them now to go on an unbeaten run.

“If they do that and if they win the title it’d be four on the bounce and for me, it ends the argument of the best-ever Premier League team. It would be Manchester City and Pep because nobody has done that before.”

During Guardiola’s reign at the Manchester club, they have won five Premier League titles, three of which have come in their three previous campaigns.

With no other side in the Premier League era managing to lift a fourth consecutive trophy, the opportunity to break another record and make history will undoubtedly be a mouth-watering prospect for everyone connected to the club.

If they want to make that dream come true, the players and coaching staff will have to make sure they do all they can to pick up as many points as possible if they want to chase down Liverpool and keep Arsenal away from them.
