As things stand, Manchester City do not have much to worry about, with their early-season form suggesting that Pep Guardiola remains in terrific touch nine seasons into his time at the club.
Guardiola has found a way to ensure that the Sky Blues already look like the best team in the Premier League — despite traditionally being slow starters during his tenure.
It does not seem like the Manchester City boss has lost his enthusiasm for coaching whatsoever — still seeming hungry to win silverware and defend his league crown.
But Pep Guardiola’s contract at City expires in 2025 — which means that there could be trouble in paradise next year if he decides not to extend his deal.
The £378,846-a-week man seems to command the same respect from the superstars at his disposal — as demonstrated by incredible Manchester City have looked at the start of the season.
Guardiola said via Sky Sports that he has not ruled out a contract extension in July.

Man City have set plan in place for Pep Guardiola successor next year
However, the decision-makers at the Etihad Stadium will have to make contingency plans in case the Catalan decides at the end of the season that his time at the club is up.
Otherwise, much like Manchester United after Sir Alex Ferguson’s departure, the club could suffer a catastrophic fall from grace.
However, City would be intending to remain a winning machine, with or without Guardiola’s presence.
All the silverware that the English juggernaut have accrued during the two-time treble-winner’s time at the helm is supposed to act as a foundation for the club to continue growing in the future.
As per a report by The Mirror, if Pep Guardiola leaves at the end of the 2024/2025 season, his replacement will be handed a transfer war chest in excess of £300 million.
It seems like Manchester City will not rest on their laurels in case Guardiola departs and instead, support the manager who could replace him in the best possible way.
The manager to replace Pep Guardiola at Man City would have an impossible job
Whether Pep Guardiola leaves next year or not, whichever manager eventually replaces him has a virtually impossible task at hands.
It seems highly unlikely that the coach in question will be able to replicate Guardiola’s unprecedented success.
If that does happen to the case, he is likely to face scrutiny from fans and pundits like.
Furthermore, walking into a dressing room full of winners, it takes a special manager to keep them motivated to fight for silverware after a majority of the players have already won the lot.
After Pep Guardiola leaves the club, it would not be a surprise if at least some of the City players start to consider their long-term future.
The manager in question will have to set out a plan in place that instils a sense of belief in a bulk of the squad that under his guidance, they can continue to win trophies galore.
