Manchester City star Erling Haaland could be jailed for a day in Switzerland for an unpaid fine

Per Blick, Haaland could end up in trouble the next time he visits Switzerland. He could spend a day in prison for non-payment of a fine. The news comes amid rumours of the striker penning a new long-term deal with reigning English champions Manchester City that could see him earn more than £100m in wages.

The Blick report also adds that the striker did not pay a fine worth 60 francs which is around €65, a paltry sum, and now could end up in jail. However, the striker could avoid the prison sentence by paying the amount to the authorities on his next visit to the country. Such a situation though is unlikely to happen as the fine amount is insignificant for a professional footballer of his stature.

Haaland’s father, Alfie-Inge, left Norway in 2023 to permanently settle in Switzerland. The player is likely to visit his father during Christmas and will aim to settle the legal issue.

For now, the 24-year-old remains committed to his team and will be next seen in action on Saturday as Pep Guardiola’s men face Tottenham in the Premier League in a away fixture.

Erling Haaland continues to cement his status as the most prolific striker in the Premier League, leading the Golden Boot race for the 2024/2025 season.

The Norwegian sensation has dazzled fans with his incredible goal-scoring form, proving why he is considered one of the world’s best forwards.

According to Fabrizio Romano officially Facebook page.

Haaland’s impact since joining Manchester City in 2022 has been nothing short of sensational.

Having shattered the Premier League’s single-season goal-scoring record last year, he shows no signs of slowing down.

This season, the 24-year-old has already amassed a remarkable tally, putting him ahead of his closest competitors by a significant margin.

Known for his lethal finishing, aerial dominance, and blistering pace, Haaland has become the focal point of Pep Guardiola’s attack.

His ability to convert even the slimmest of chances into goals has made him indispensable to Manchester City’s title defense.

Haaland’s knack for performing in high-stakes matches has been a crucial factor in City’s success.

This season, he has scored vital goals against top-six rivals and delivered hat-tricks in decisive fixtures, underlining his importance to the team.

His partnership with creative talents like Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, and Jack Grealish ensures a constant supply of opportunities, which Haaland capitalizes on with ruthless efficiency.

While Haaland leads the standings, other forwards are putting up a fight. Mohamed Salah, always a contender, has maintained his consistency for Liverpool, while emerging talents like Arsenal’s Gabriel Jesus and Tottenham’s Son Heung-min are also in the mix.

However, none have matched Haaland’s relentless scoring rate, making him the clear favorite for the Golden Boot.

Despite his personal achievements, Haaland remains focused on team success. Manchester City is in the hunt for multiple trophies, including a fourth consecutive Premier League title.

Haaland’s goals have been instrumental in keeping City at the top of the table, and his contributions are expected to be pivotal as the season progresses.

As the 2024/2025 season unfolds, Haaland’s performances continue to capture the imagination of football fans worldwide.

If his form persists, the Golden Boot will likely be another accolade in his already illustrious career.
