Pep Guardiola Manchester City will be out of title race if this happens

Premier League champions Manchester City are going through their worst form of last 18 years.

They have lost five games in a row after their latest defeat against Tottenham at the Etihad Stadium.

Ange Postecoglou’s side stunned Pep Guardiola and his team by winning 4-0 against the Premier League winners.

Questions have been raised whether Man City and Guardiola can challenge for the league title this season.

Arne Slot’s Liverpool side are currently the favourites to win the league and if they manage to beat Southampton on Sunday, they will extend their lead to eight points over Man City.

Guardiola has claimed that if his side lose to Liverpool at Anfield next week, which would put Liverpool eleven points ahead of City, the Premier League title race will be over for them.

Speaking after the defeat against Tottenham, the Man City manager was asked about his opinion if his side lose against Slot’s team next week.

“Yeah, it’s true,” he said, as reported by ESPN.

“We’re not thinking about winning or losing [the title], we are not in the situation to think about what is going to happen at the end of the season.

“If in the end we don’t win it’s because we don’t deserve it. We won it in the past because we deserved it.

“What we have to do now is [beat] Feyenoord. That is the most important thing — first for the qualification for the CL [Champions League] — and step by step the players will be better.”

Man City cannot afford to lose at Anfield next week

Man City were favourites to win the league title again this season but they have been stunned by Liverpool’s form under Slot this season.

The Reds can take an eight point lead over Man City with a win against Southampton today.

Anfield will be absolutely buzzing next week for the visit of Guardiola’s side and as expected, a win for Liverpool will end City’s chances of winning the league despite the season being less than halfway through.

Injuries have troubled Man City this season, particularly of Ballon d’Or winner Rodri who is their midfield commander.

The likes of Jack Grealish, John Stones, Kevin de Bruyne and others have all spent time away on the sidelines with fitness issues this season.

Guardiola praised James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski for their performances at the Etihad Stadium.
