Pep Guardiola now names his favourite season at Man City – it’s not the treble-winning campaign

Pep Guardiola has revealed that his favourite season at Manchester City was the “Centurions” campaign.

Many would expect Guardiola to simply pick last season, as his side finally broke their hoodoo in the Champions League by winning the competition and also becoming treble-winners in the process, making it a campaign that will be talked about for decades.

However, it seems like the Catalan tactician was never particularly as preoccupied with winning the Champions League at the Etihad Stadium as some may have expected him to be.

Pep Guardiola says the “Centurions” season is his favourite at Manchester City

At the end of the day, while some of the stick Manchester City had received for failing to get over the line in Europe was fair, it would have been disingenuous to deny that they were not accomplishing incredible feats elsewhere.

Domestically, football has not seen many more dominant sides than Guardiola’s Sky Blues side in decades.

Now, Pep Guardiola has revealed that the Centurions season is by far his favourite during his time managing Manchester City.

“The first one, like we won the Premier League. It’s like, win the Premier League, okay, I said, ‘We have done it’, he said while speaking to TNT Sports.

Understandable admission from Pep Guardiola

Considering Pep Guardiola had seen his Manchester City side win third in a difficult debut season for him in England, the fact that his side won the league in historic fashion by accumulating 100 points and being known as the Centurions must have felt special to him.

City perhaps played the most entertaining brand of football any English team has as well, scoring a record-106 goals in 38 games in that campaign.

If there were any doubts about how Guardiola’s style would translate in the Premier League, they were put to bed by a team that will go down in history as one of the best teams the division has ever seen.
