Phil Foden posted on social media after his latest axe from the Man City line-up and limited game time in recent games following the side’s win over Aston Villa.
Man City edged a step closer to Champions League qualification thanks to a 2-1 victory at the Etihad Stadium. Matheus Nunes netted in stoppage time to seal a dramatic win, lifting Pep Guardiola’s side into third and creating a four-point gap over Villa.
Foden was an unused substitute once again, his third time sitting out in the last five Premier League fixtures. His omission comes during a crucial stretch of the season, as a Champions League place is up for grabs.
Foden has come under fire from some Man City fans, with questions raised over his performances and consistency. With Guardiola seemingly favouring other options in recent weeks, Foden appears to have slipped down the pecking order.
Despite the circumstances, he still posted a short but positive message after the game, showing his support for the team amid personal frustration.

His omission from the starting XI hasn’t come as a major surprise considering his current form, with this season proving to be a challenging one for the England international.
Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider last month that Foden has been struggling under the weight of expectation at Man City and the increasing demands placed on him.
It follows earlier claims made back in November, when Brown revealed that Man City staff had already expressed concerns about Foden’s performance levels at that point–particularly as he had yet to score a Premier League goal by then.
While his numbers have improved slightly, they still fall short of the standards he set in previous campaigns. He has registered just seven goals and two assists in the league this season, well below his output from last year.

Man City eye Florian Wirtz as Kevin De Bruyne replacement with Foden’s future unclear
With Kevin De Bruyne confirmed to be leaving Man City at the end of the season, many may have expected Foden to naturally fill the attacking midfield void left behind.
However, his inconsistent form appears to have prompted the club to explore alternatives, with Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz emerging as a key target for Man City heading into the summer window.
As the race for Champions League football continues, it remains to be seen whether Foden will be given another opportunity to prove himself in Guardiola’s side this season.
