PSG looking set to actually sign £70m City player this summer

Journalist Ben Jacobs has provided an update on the future of Manchester City player Julian Alvarez, who is valued at over £70 million by the club. Alvarez is seeking more playing time and has expressed a desire to potentially move to PSG. The decision regarding Alvarez’s future needs to be made quickly, as he is seen as the only player capable of acting as a backup to Erling Haaland at City.

Manchester City, who are aiming to win their fifth consecutive Premier League title, must consider whether to keep Alvarez or sell him to PSG. The club cannot afford to wait too long to make a decision, as finding a quality striker willing to play second-fiddle to Haaland is a challenge in the transfer market. PSG is reportedly interested in Alvarez to strengthen their forward line, and City needs to determine Alvarez’s priorities and act accordingly.

PSG may still pursue Alvarez as they prioritize other targets this summer, using funds from potential Kylian Mbappe sales. Alvarez’s desire for more regular playing time has been communicated to those close to him, indicating a possible move away from Manchester City. The decision regarding Alvarez’s future will be crucial for both City and PSG in their pursuit of success in the upcoming season.

Ederson and Kevin De Bruyne’s potential moves from Manchester City to Saudi Arabia are unlikely to be related to the profit and sustainability rules (PSR).

That is the view of former Man City financial advisor Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider the Premier League champions have one of the largest PSR surpluses out of all the top-flight clubs.

Reports have suggested Al-Nassr are prepared to offer Ederson up to £600,000 a week – three times his current salary at the Etihad.

It has also been reported De Bruyne has “verbally agreed” personal terms with Al-Ittihad ahead of his Man City contract expiring in June 2025.

The duo have been regular fixtures in Pep Guardiola’s side during his time at the Etihad, having combined to make 714 appearances for the club.

Man City stars could leave after Saudi offers on the table

Borson insisted the potential moves are more about Saudi Arabia looking to take the next step in the development of their league rather than Man City needing to sell two of their star players.

“I don’t think it’s PSR-related,” Borson told Football Insider.

“If you were to do the numbers based on the publicly available information, City have one of the largest PSR surpluses out of any club.

“I suspect it’s not PSR-related.

“For the players, I think it’s likely just to be the opportunity that they’ve got to earn very substantial amounts of money going to Saudi Arabia having done everything in England.
