Pundit says Man City have an ‘outstanding’ 21-year-old youngster on their books who is just very special

Dean Ashton heaped praise on Jeremy Doku while he was discussing the difficult season Jack Grealish is currently undergoing.

The 21-year-old continues to become a talking point due to his electric displays, with Frank Leboeuf stating that he was City’s only real spark before Kevin De Bruyne’s introduction against Everton.

After the Sky Blues’ latest 2-0 win, Neil Lennon sang the Belgian’s praises, referring to him as an “eliminator” due to his tendency to dismantle a team’s structure with his unstoppable dribbling ability and raw pace.

Dean Ashton hails Jeremy Doku as an “outstanding player”

Recently, a statistic emerged that the former Rennes winger became the first player in the Premier League to complete 50 dribbles this season.

As Jeremy Doku continues to turn heads during his time in a Manchester City shirt, Dean Ashton has lauded him while touching on Jack Grealish’s struggles.

“I think it must be really hard to be in a position where you’ve [Jack Grealish] come from a club where you’re absolutely the main man. You’ve then gone to City and it’s taken you a little bit to settle.”

“You then settle and are a big part and a big reason why the club wins the treble and then they bring in [Jeremy] Doku, who’s just an outstanding player in his own right and is playing ahead of you, playing more minutes than you and I think it’s about having a strong mentality and you have to have it at these top clubs or you won’t last”, he said on Sky Sports.

Jeremy Doku could be the biggest help to Jack Grealish’s career

It is hard to disagree with Dean Ashton about Jeremy Doku, who is having a stormer of a debut season at the Etihad Stadium.

But one way in which the youngster could help Pep Guardiola and Manchester City is if he has unintentionally driven Jack Grealish to step up his game through the power of his own devastating showings.

Currently, the Sky Blues perhaps only have one in-form left-winger at their disposal.

As brilliant as Grealish was last season, a part and parcel of being at a top club is for a player to prove their worth season in and season out.

If Jack Grealish manages to do so, he could guarantee himself a place in England’s Euro 2024 squad while establishing himself as one of the big guns at Manchester City again if he goes on to silence his doubters.

As for Jeremy Doku, all he has to do in this instance is to perform like he did against Burnley and Everton to keep the ex-Aston Villa talisman on his toes.
