Real Madrid stunned as Man City agree mind-boggling deal for major star player

Man City manager Pep Guardiola
Man City are primed to seal an incredible American coup

Manchester City are close to wrapping up an agreement to bring a player heralded as the best in the world in his age group to the Etihad.

Pep Guardiola’s side are the dominant force in club football at present. Their historic treble last season is proof of that and quietly going under the radar this time around is the fact they’re on course to win the treble once again.

Man City have spent heavily in the market and Pep Guardiola’s side is expensively assembled. However, what cannot be overlooked is the magnificent work taking place in their youth academy.

Phil Foden has arguably been City’s best player this term and is a homegrown player. Rico Lewis and Oscar Bobb are now firm fixtures in the first-team squad.

Furthermore, Man City added £40m to their books as pure profit when selling academy graduate Cole Palmer to Chelsea.

Those are just four of countless success stories in City’s academy over recent times. Now, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, City’s academy could soon add an American flavour.

Romano confirmed City’s coup will receive his signature ‘here we go’ confirmation “soon.”

Cavan Sullivan might not be a household name at present, though it won’t be long before that changes.

The American youngster is only 14 years of age, though has already played for Philadelphia Union’s under-17s.

Writing on X on Friday, MLS analyst, Taylor Twellman, revealed Man City’s scouts believe Sullivan is the best 14-year-old in world football right now.

Sullivan primarily operates as an attacking midfielder and per the Daily Mail, has already earned the moniker ‘Captain America’ within the game.

Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic may have become Manchester City’s most important player on the run home this season. In the champions’ last two games, his importance to the world champions has become evident. Kovacic appears to have a vital role to play as Manchester City bid to repeat their treble heroics from a season ago.

During City’s 1-all draw with Liverpool and last weekend’s 2-nil win over Newcastle, it has become apparent that Pep Guardiola’s side look far more settled in midfield with Kovacic on the pitch. His presence next to Rodri in midfield gives the world champions more control of games. The pair work wonderfully well together, and having them both on the pitch immediately provides City with the control of games they desire. As Pep Guardiola’s sides treble defence continues, it does appear that City’s best lineup has their Croatian midfielder at the heart of midfield.

There are obviously other key pieces to the Manchester City setup. Rodri is clearly City’s most important player. Without him, the champions traditionally struggle. But with Kovacic paired in midfield with their midfield general, City’s midfield becomes infinitely stronger. The pair provides a solid foundation in the most important area of the pitch. With the duo dictating affairs in midfield, it gives the platform for Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Phil Foden, and Erling Haaland to shine.

How Pep Guardiola decides to line up on the run home will be a crucial factor as the champions chase another treble. But based on the evidence of City’s last two games, Mateo Kovacic has to start on the run home. The Croatian midfielder has all of a sudden become one of City’s most important players at the business end of the season.
