Joao Cancelo’s future at Barcelona is becoming increasingly uncertain, as recent developments suggest the club may be moving on from their interest in the Manchester City full-back.

Cancelo, who has been out of favor at Manchester City since the latter half of the 2022/23 season, was loaned to Bayern Munich and subsequently to Barcelona. Despite his loan spells, Barcelona’s interest in re-signing him has now come into question.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona has recently removed Cancelo from their official website, where he had been listed along with Joao Felix, another player they had hoped to bring back. This removal is significant, considering Barcelona had previously kept both players visible as they contemplated re-signing them. With Joao Felix now heading to Chelsea, the removal of Cancelo could signal the end of Barcelona’s pursuit.

Cancelo, who is currently back at Manchester City but has not featured in recent matches including the Community Shield and the Premier League opener, posted on Instagram earlier today. His post featured vacation photos with the caption “I’m the only one that knows who I am,” which may be a cryptic response to recent criticisms and doubts about his behavior last season.
Barcelona’s apparent shift away from Cancelo could open the door for other clubs. Reports suggest that Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal might be interested in acquiring the 30-year-old, presenting a potential opportunity for a permanent move. Additionally, Juventus, where Cancelo previously played, has been mentioned as a possible destination.
With Barcelona’s intentions now unclear and other options emerging, Cancelo’s next move remains uncertain. The player will need to weigh his options carefully as he considers his future.
