Manchester City wonderkid Rico Lewis was quizzed about what Pep Guardiola says to his players to keep them motivated.
Aside from how Guardiola manages to conjure a unique tactical plan that enables City to remain successful, a mystery remains how he manages to push some of the best players in the world to constantly strive for greatness.
After a point, it is natural that players who are accustomed to winning major honours are no longer as driven to succeed and become complacent.
As for the £378,846-a-week man, it seems like his hunger to win trophies is boundless — despite having the career most managers in the history of the game would dream of.

Rico Lewis reveals the three words Pep Guardiola uses to motivate the Man City players
The Catalan tactician was evidently puzzled by the Sky Blues’ surprising 2-1 defeat to Manchester United that occurred a day before and it seems like he is unable to switch off from being a relentless winner.
Having spent years playing under Pep Guardiola, naturally, his mentality has seemingly rubbed off on his players — who never seem to display a lack of effort even in games where they finish second best — whether that was in the FA Cup final, the defeat on penalties to Real Madrid in the quarter-final of the Champions League or their 1-0 loss to Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup.
Next season, the English giants will be hoping that they can win every possible trophy in store.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Lewis revealed that Pep Guardiola informs the Manchester City players every season that they should not be satisfied and continue to raise the bar.
“I think he tells us every year, it’s not enough. Even though, we’ve done so much, it’s not enough and like I said before, it’s the standard that we’ve set for ourselves and it’s something that we have to adhere to.”
“And he makes sure that if he senses or thinks that anyone thinks that it’s over or they can slack off, it’s not good enough.”
Lewis has also stated that Guardiola is the greatest manager the game has ever seen.
Pep Guardiola and Co. already have their goal for next season in mind
During the latest episode of ‘Inside City’ on the club’s official YouTube channel, a photo of the Champions League trophy was plastered inside the physio room with the message, ‘Our Goal.’
During the Sky Blues’ treble-winning season, the same message was placed and Pep Guardiola’s men managed to achieve the goal.
The 2024/2025 campaign is yet to start but the legendary manager and his side are already looking to win one major trophy next season.
As Lewis stated, Guardiola is always motivating the Manchester City players to keep chasing massive ambitions and that is evident by the message inside the camp.
Whether City will retain their trophy after first winning it in 2023 is an answer only time has in store.
