Manchester City have a player on their hands who now really wants to leave the club – and he feels one team will fit him like a glove.
City fans are looking forward to the 2024 summer window, which could be quite a busy one for the club.
A number of players have already been linked with moves away from the Etihad Stadium, including the likes of Ederson, Bernardo Silva and Kevin De Bruyne.
Usually at City, there tends to be at least one big name leaving every summer.
There are also fringe players that move on, and this summer we could be seeing that once more with Sergio Gomez looking likely to depart.
Transfer expert Graeme Bailey told Manchester City News in April that Gomez was a player he expected to be on the move this summer.
It has been suggested recently that Real Sociedad are interested in signing the player, having been keen on him for quite some time.
And it looks as though the interest is mutual.

Gomez has really struggled at City since making a move to the club two years ago from Anderlecht.
The Spaniard – who signed for £11 million – just hasn’t been able to force his way into the starting XI, and has mainly made cameo appearances.
Pep Guardiola has much preferred to use centre-backs in wide areas in recent times, with Josko Gvardiol currently featuring as a left-back for City. The Croatian finished the season fairly strongly.
Minutes for Gomez have been few and far between, and the player is now ready to move on.
As reported by El Diario Vasco, Gomez is very interested in joining Sociedad now. He is said to be making them a priority, and talks are now on between the two clubs.
Gomez is said to believe that Sociedad could be a really good move for him, and reckons their style would fit him like a glove.
Gomez hasn’t worked out at City
Gomez has undoubtedly been a rare transfer miss for Manchester City.
Eyebrows were raised when he was signed, because it rather came out of the blue and no one really knew too much about him.
He has been unable to convince the City fans that he is someone who should be kept around long-term and seemingly, he hasn’t been doing enough to impress Guardiola given the game time he’s had.
He’s looked bright at times when coming on as a substitute.
But his lack of starts just show his standing in the pecking order, and it would be the right thing for all parties for him to move on. Gomez remains a player with good potential, and he needs to play for a club that will give him the minutes he needs to develop.
The level is just so high at City, and there is no shame that it hasn’t worked out. Hopefully he can get a good move this summer, and perhaps City can benefit in the future by way of a sell-on clause.
