🔴 Ineos Target Midfield Reinforcement After Šeško Deal.

After successfully securing a blockbuster agreement for Benjamin Šeško, Manchester United’s ownership group, INEOS, is now prioritizing the signing of a top-class central midfielder to further strengthen the squad ahead of the 2025/26 season.

INEOS, led by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, believes that midfield remains a crucial area for improvement. While the attack has been bolstered with the high-profile arrival of Šeško from RB Leipzig, there is a growing sense that United still lack dynamism, control, and physicality in the center of the pitch. The midfield rebuild is seen as essential for executing Rúben Amorim’s high-intensity, possession-based system.

According to multiple sources, United are actively monitoring several profiles, including Everton’s Amadou Onana, Benfica’s João Neves, and Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich. All three are considered capable of offering different qualities—ball-winning, press resistance, and leadership.

Funding the midfield signing is expected to involve player exits. Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek are both on the market, and Casemiro’s high wages make him a candidate for a Saudi move. INEOS’s model emphasizes sustainable spending and strategic squad planning, so the next signing must fit both financially and tactically.

United’s intention is to sign a midfielder before the Premier League kicks off later this month. With Amorim pushing for quick reinforcements, negotiations are likely to accelerate in the coming days. The manager wants a complete squad ready for the opening fixtures and pre-season performances have already highlighted the gaps in midfield cohesion and defensive shielding.

Šeško’s arrival has provided excitement at Old Trafford, but the next priority is clear: a midfield general to anchor United’s resurgence under new

leadership.
