🚨💣 BREAKING: According to BILD, a potential swap deal involving Benjamin Šeško between Manchester United and RB Leipzig is now considered unlikely.
The German club is reportedly not interested in any of the players Manchester United is willing to offer as part of the deal.
United had explored the possibility of including players such as Rasmus Højlund or other fringe squad members to reduce the overall cost of the transfer. However, BILD claims that Leipzig have firmly rejected this approach, indicating they are only open to a cash-only deal for the Slovenian striker.
RB Leipzig remain adamant that Šeško will not be sold unless their valuation—believed to be €75 million plus add-ons—is met. Despite interest from multiple clubs, Leipzig are in a strong negotiating position due to the player’s long-term contract and their desire to keep him as part of their future project.
Benjamin Šeško, 21, had been one of the key targets for United this summer as the club looks to bolster its attacking options. His profile fits the club’s vision of signing young, high-potential talents, especially with the current uncertainty surrounding the form and long-term viability of their existing forwards.
The collapse of a swap option complicates things for Manchester United, who are also managing Financial Fair Play (FFP) constraints and considering multiple other targets. Unless the club decides to meet Leipzig’s full asking price, this development could force them to look elsewhere.
The pressure is mounting as the Premier League season approaches, and United still lack a clinical striker capable of leading the line consistently. Šeško was seen as a top solution—but now, that path appears increasingly
blocked.
