🚨 AC Milan have expressed serious interest in bringing Rasmus Højlund to the San Siro, with discussions centering on a potential loan deal rather than an outright purchase.

The 22-year-old Danish striker, currently at Manchester United, is reportedly available for a transfer fee in the region of £30M-£40M. However, Milan’s preference is to secure him on a temporary basis, possibly with an option to buy, as they continue their search for attacking reinforcements this summer.

Højlund arrived at Old Trafford with huge expectations after his big-money move from Atalanta in 2023, but his time in Manchester has been a mixed bag. While flashes of his pace, movement, and instinctive finishing have impressed, he has struggled with consistency in front of goal and has faced stiff competition for the No.9 role following United’s push to sign Benjamin Šeško.

For AC Milan, the attraction is clear. They see Højlund as a striker with significant upside — young, physical, and suited to Serie A’s tactical style. With Olivier Giroud’s departure to LAFC leaving a big gap up front, Milan are actively scouting for a long-term centre-forward. Højlund’s prior experience in Italy with Atalanta makes him an appealing option, as he’s already familiar with the league’s demands.

From United’s perspective, a sale at £30M-£40M would help fund other signings, while a loan would reduce the wage bill and potentially boost Højlund’s market value if he excels in Italy. INEOS and Erik ten Hag must now decide whether they prefer an immediate cash injection or the possibility of a stronger, more confident Højlund returning in 2026.

Talks are expected to progress in the coming weeks, with Milan hoping to strike a deal before the start of the new Serie A season. The next move could depend on whether United’s new striker signings settle quickly — and if Milan are willing to sweeten the

terms.
