🚨 CONFIRMED: Manchester United are reportedly open to a swap-plus-cash deal in their ongoing pursuit of RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Šeško — and shockingly, Rasmus Højlund could be offered as part of the package.
United’s interest in Šeško has intensified in recent weeks, with Erik ten Hag identifying the Slovenian forward as a top target to reinforce United’s attacking options. Although Leipzig have been firm on their asking price, understood to be around £55–60 million, United are considering creative approaches to strike a deal without breaching financial regulations.
Sources close to the negotiations have now confirmed that Manchester United are not ruling out including a player in the deal — and Rasmus Højlund is one of the names being discussed. Despite arriving just last summer for £72 million, Højlund’s inconsistent form and injury concerns have raised internal discussions over his long-term role under Ten Hag.
United believe Šeško’s profile — tall, quick, clinical, and with Bundesliga experience — may be better suited to Ten Hag’s system. At just 21, Šeško is viewed as a striker who could blossom into a world-class forward in the Premier League.
The idea of using Højlund as a makeweight could also benefit Leipzig, who were previously interested in the Dane before his move to Old Trafford. However, any potential swap would likely involve United paying an additional fee, given the value and future potential of Šeško.
The move would mark a bold change of direction, but with United determined to revamp their attack and challenge for trophies again, no option is off the table. Talks are expected to continue over the coming days, with both clubs now fully engaged in the negotiation
process.
