🚨 Manchester United are set to take a decisive step in their pursuit of Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba, with sources indicating that the club is preparing to submit a formal offer in the coming days.

The Red Devils have identified the 20-year-old as a priority target for Rubén Amorim’s midfield rebuild, seeing him as the ideal player to bring energy, defensive solidity, and technical quality to the heart of their squad.

Brighton, however, remain in a strong position. The Seagulls are under no pressure to sell and have slapped a huge valuation on Baleba, believed to be in the region of £120 million. Should United meet that figure, it would shatter the club’s current transfer record, which stands at £89 million for Paul Pogba in 2016. While talks are still at an early stage, it’s understood that United’s recruitment team is exploring a package that could combine a sizeable upfront payment with performance-based add-ons to convince Brighton to part ways with their star.

Baleba, who joined Brighton from Lille in 2023, has quickly established himself as one of the Premier League’s most promising young midfielders. His blend of powerful ball-carrying, precise passing, and ability to disrupt opposition play has attracted interest from several top clubs across Europe. Yet, Manchester United appear determined to win the race for his signature.

United’s interest comes amid Amorim’s push for a more dynamic and athletic midfield capable of controlling games at the highest level. With Casemiro’s future uncertain and Christian Eriksen no longer a guaranteed starter, Baleba is seen as a player who could anchor the team for years to come.

If United do move forward with a record-breaking offer, it will be a clear statement of intent ahead of the new season — and a sign that INEOS are willing to back Amorim’s long-term

vision.
