19-year-old Ethan Williams marked a memorable moment in his young career by getting on the scoresheet during Manchester United’s 4-1 pre-season victory over Bournemouth.

The Manchester-born winger, a product of the club’s academy, showcased his flair and composure, scoring the third goal of the match to cap off a dominant team performance.

Williams, who joined United at a young age and has steadily progressed through the ranks at Carrington, has been turning heads with his development over the past year. Known for his direct style, technical ability, and intelligent movement, the teenager has been involved in several U21 matches but is now beginning to taste senior football.

In the match against Bournemouth, United looked sharp from the outset. Goals from Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho gave Erik ten Hag’s side a 2-0 lead at half-time. Williams was introduced shortly after the restart, replacing Antony on the right wing. He made an immediate impact, combining well with Mason Mount before curling a low effort past the Cherries’ goalkeeper in the 71st minute.

Ten Hag praised the youngster post-match, saying, “Ethan has worked very hard in training. He’s earned his opportunity and took his goal really well. It’s important that our young players show courage and quality when given chances — and he did exactly that.”

Bournemouth pulled one back late through a penalty, but Facundo Pellistri restored the three-goal cushion in added time to seal the 4-1 win.

As United continue their pre-season preparations, Williams’ performance has further boosted his chances of featuring more prominently in the senior setup this season. With Ten Hag placing increased emphasis on youth integration, the door remains open for Williams to make his mark on the Premier League stage

in 2025.
