3 Managers shortlisted to replace Erik Ten Hag at Manchester United as he faces sack
Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is facing facing the sack following a torrid campaign at Old Trafford.
During what’s been a disastrous season in 2023/24, the Red Devils have been pretty inconsistent and it’s been difficult to predict what to expect of them game to game.
United and the British billionaire announced on Christmas Eve he had agreed a £1.3billion deal to acquire a minority stake in the club after 13 months of negotiations.
That has since led to speculation ten Hag could be replaced once Ratcliffe has his feet under the table at Old Trafford and his INEOS group formally takes control of football operations.
The club have already announced Omar Berrada of Manchester City as their new CEO, while there could yet be signings in the final few days of the window.
Ratcliffe’s involvement is said to be slow thus far as he assesses Manchester United before wider-scale changes in the summer – and one of those big decisions could come in the dugout.
According to an exclusive fromTEAMtalk, three managers are in the frame to replace Ten Hag, who has until the end of the season to turn his side around.

Graham Potter, Roberto De Zerbi and Francesco Farioli have all been touted for the manager’s job, with the former two having coached Brighton and the latter a Nice coach well-known to Ratcliffe.
According to Oddschecker, Graham Potter is the favourite to become the next manager of United if Ten Hag goes.
Potter has, according to reports, already met with Ratcliffe to discuss the prospect of taking over.
The Englishman struggled at Chelsea last term, with the Blues sacking him in April after just six months in charge.
Yet Potter is believed to be held in high regard by Ratcliffe, having impressed during stints in charge of Brighton and Swansea.
He is not, however, the only name in the frame to potentially replace Ten Hag.
Ten Hag is approaching two years in charge and last season lifted the League Cup – but this season has been a far cry from that. One supercomputer has predicted United to record their lowest-ever Premier League finish this term.
Manchester United have had five full-time managers since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013. David Moyes lasted less than a season before Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho both won silverware in two full seasons a-piece – van Gaal the FA Cup, Mourinho the League Cup and Europa League.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer followed but was sacked in 2021, before Ten Hag was appointed in 2022.
Will Ten Hag be the fourth United boss to fall victim to a curse that has plagued the club since Sir Alex Ferguson’s 2013 retirement? … Time will tell.
