Man United: Ferdinand reacts to latest Sancho news

The United legend has delivered his verdict on the situation…

When he finally completed a move to Manchester United in 2021, it seemed a guarantee that Jadon Sancho would make a racing start and go straight into the Old Trafford history books, having scored 114 goals in just 137 games for Borussia Dortmund.

However, that was not the case at all and the winger instead endured a Premier League nightmare for three years, failing to establish himself at United and quickly becoming a transfer market flop.

To make matters worse, Sancho was embroiled in a public disagreement with United manager Erik ten Hag, issuing a contradictory statement to the Dutchman, who said he had walked out on the England international after a week of mediocre training.

Rio Ferdinand spoke out about the situation and was quick to judge

What did Rio Ferdinand say? Ferdinand responded to Sancho’s statement on Twitter, remaining somewhat incredulous: “It is impossible for Jadon to make such a statement if, in his eyes, he has not behaved well. Well, that’s the difference too. According to his schedule, I trained well, but the coach may have a certain standard.

“There’s only one way this is going to end now. Well, two ways. There’s only one window open, and that’s Saudi Arabia, you’re either on the bench or out of the squad for the rest of the season.”

Sancho naturally responded to the Ten Hag interview, in which the former Ajax manager told the BBC: ‘Jadon, we didn’t select him for his performance in training.

At Manchester United you have to reach a level every day and up front we can make choices. That’s why he was not selected for this match.

To say that Sancho is now on the rise when it comes to getting back into Ten Hag’s plans would be an incredible understatement. It already seemed unlikely that the ex-Dortmund player would be part of the Dutchman’s strongest squad. But now any chance of proving his doubters wrong at Old Trafford has been completely shattered.

The winger’s destination from here is uncertain as the transfer window is closed in most of Europe. As things stand, Sancho will be one of the biggest failures in Premier League history unless a dramatic reversal occurs. During his time with the Red Devils, he scored just 18 goals in 82 games, with 12 goals and six assists. For a player who reached the 50-goal mark in Germany, these numbers are a devastating reflection of how bad things have been since Sancho’s return to English football.

At 23, it could be argued that there is still time for Sancho’s career to take another turn, this time in a more positive direction. However, it seems increasingly unlikely that that turn for the better will take place in the red half of Manchester

With Premier League games moving quickly, it will certainly be interesting to see how the public disagreement between Sancho and Ten Hag develops in the coming weeks.

Man United: Update on Scott McTominay exit

The Scotland national team was

combined with a departure throughout the summer. Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay was given the option to leave for Fulham in the closing stages on deadline day, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Will Scott McTominay leave Manchester United? The Red Devils had a busy day arriving at Old Trafford and are looking to close out this summer’s transfer window in style.

United have already seen three new faces enter Carrington, with goalkeeper Altay Bayindir kicking off in the morning.

Then came the announcement of Sergio Reguilon’s season-long loan as the Spaniard moved from north London to Old Trafford. And then the news broke that Jonny Evans was officially back at Old Trafford, having landed a one-year contract with the club for which he had already played 198 games.

The Red Devils are also expected to see another signing before the 11pm deadline tonight. They reportedly initially agreed to loan midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.

However, Amrabat’s early arrival at Old Trafford does not seem to have worried current midfielder McTominay. In fact, it has been suggested that the Scotland international has passed the deadline, with a number of teams potentially keen on signing him away from United.

But Romano has since reported that despite the chances of a move, the 26-year-old opted out of the move from Manchester to London.

“I was told that Fulham tried to sign Scott McTominay at the last minute… but there is no agreement on the players’ side and Palhinha will return to Fulham,” Romano posted on X. How much does Scott McTominay earn at Man United? It hasn’t been the most promising start to the season for the Scotland international as he has spent most of his time on the bench in the first three games.

Across all Premier League games, McTominay has made just two appearances as a substitute and played just a total of seven minutes on the pitch (via Transfermarkt).

So it might come as a surprise that the 26-year-old wants to stay at Old Trafford despite the lack of playing time. However, the North West midfielder is reportedly earning around £60,000 a week. McTominay has two years left on his contract with the Red Devils and his current salary would have allowed him to join Craven Cottage as one of the club’s highest earners.

But he is a player who has received a lot of praise over the years. People like José Mourinho called him ‘special’: ‘He’s a special character, a special personality that a team needs in a negative moment’.
