Sir Jim Ratcliffe has praised the ‘commitment’ and ‘skill’ of Manchester United after they defeated Man City to win the FA Cup at Wembley.

Goals from homegrown duo Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo gave United a deserved lead for much of the match, before Jeremy Doku set up a frantic finale with a low driven effort in the last few minutes of normal time.

After the match, Ratcliffe commented on the FA Cup win, but did not respond to reporters in the mixed zone when asked for clarity over Ten Hag’s future.

“It is a glorious feeling to win the FA Cup final at Wembley. Manchester United clearly were not the favourites to win today but they played with total commitment and skill and overcame one of the great teams in football. We are all very proud of the players and the staff who work tirelessly to support them.”

It remains to be seen what will happen next with Ten Hag after a report on the eve of the match suggested he would be sacked regardless of the outcome of the FA Cup win. United sources insisted that a decision was yet to be made on the Dutchman and that his future would only be determined after a full review of their season once it was completed.
