Anthony Elanga chooses three Man Utd team-mates he took ‘chapters’ from before his return
Sweden international Anthony Elanga left Manchester United for Nottingham Forest in the summer and is expected to return to Old Trafford in the near future.
Anthony Elanga has spoken about the influence Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane and Bruno Fernandes had on him during his time at Old Trafford.
The Swedish star started his professional career at United but left at the end of the season for Nottingham Forest. However, the 21-year-old will return to his former home this weekend, with Forest traveling to Old Trafford for a Premier League clash.
Reflecting on his time in Manchester, Elanga referenced the senior stars he learned from earlier in his career. While Ronaldo is no longer on United’s books after being knocked out midway through last season, the other two could face him on Saturday. He was special,” Elanga told ForestTV when asked about Ronaldo. “I always said if you could take a few things out of their chapter, because look at him, at 38 always, which just shows his discipline, so it’s out of this world.”
“If I take a few chapters from your books, not only his but also Varane, Bruno, the list goes on and on. You can’t stop learning, and I’ve always said that.”
“You are never the finished article. You can always get better and better.”
Elanga, who has moved to the City Ground for around £15m, has come off the bench in each of his side’s first two league games this season. Forest lost their opening game at Arsenal before earning a late victory against Sheffield United.
United won all four of their games against Forest last season, twice in the league and twice in the Carabao Cup. Elanga has been involved in two of those games and could now face a weakened United defense following injuries to Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.
One of the most striking kits of the new season, the adidas shirt’s base color is green with white stripes and brown lines, allowing United to show off one of the most striking shirts in the game for the 2023/24 season. Prices start at £55
