Manchester United will earn a compensation fee for Omari Forson following his move to Italian side AC Monza.
Forson’s deal at Old Trafford expired on Sunday, officially bringing an end to his five-year spell in Manchester. He joined United from Tottenham Hotspur in January 2019.
United, as reported by the Manchester Evening News last month, wanted to retain the 19-year-old’s services. However, contract offers and proposals submitted by United were rejected by his representatives.
United were prepared to continue putting competitive contract offers on the table in the hope he would have committed his future to the club. However, the London-born attacker made the decision to join Monza in early-June, signing a deal until 2028.

Following the expiry of his contract at Old Trafford on June 30, his move to Monza has now officially come into effect, with his contract in Italy commencing today (July 1). United have issued a statement to confirm his exit as he was among the players they confirmed they were in talks with when issuing their retained list on June 5.
United have confirmed they will receive a compensation fee for Forson, who made seven first-team appearances during his time at Old Trafford. In the scenario of a player under the age of 24 rejecting a contract proposal in order to sign for another club, compensation is required. Having played just seven times for United, featuring just one Premier League start, the financial package is unlikely to be seven figures.
