“Despite the victory I’m not happy him”: Bruno Fernandes names ONE Man United’s player who disappointed him during Everton game
Manchester United fans would have been rightly buzzing over Bruno Fernandes’ contribution in Ruben Amorim’s first Premier League game at Old Trafford, with the Portuguese midfielder having recorded an assist apiece for Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee against Everton – but fears could creep in after the playmaking star was seen with heavy taping and an ice pack on his foot after being substituted.

Fernandes’ ‘world-class’ wizardry saw Rashford and Zirkzee bag before the break, and they continued to come up trumps after the interval with the dynamite duo scoring another goal each to give Amorim the perfect start to Old Trafford life, taking a 4-0 lead. However, Fernandes was pictured with what appeared to be a protective device for his ankle – after being substituted with injury just after the hour mark.
A tweet from @TheEuropeanLad on X saw Fernandes’ device – presumably an ice pack – in plain sight, with the midfielder – who is rarely injured – being forced off with the Red Devils being 4-0 up.
It makes little difference to the result, with United blowing the Toffees away to go ninth in the Premier League table, but with huge games coming up against Arsenal, Nottingham Forest and Manchester City in the next fortnight, the last thing that Amorim will want is for Fernandes to beat out injured prior to the busy period of games.
There was no stretcher involved, which will be somewhat of a reprieve for the former Sporting boss, but any swelling could at least rule him out of the clash against the Gunners, and it’s not inconceivable to imagine that he could be out for the City clash, at arguably the best time to play Pep Guardiola’s men given that they haven’t won in six games prior to their away trip to league leaders Liverpool.
Fernandes had a slow start to the season under Erik ten Hag, but since featuring in the side under Ruud van Nistelrooy’s interim spell and Amorim’s permanent tenure, he’s registered four goals and five assists in just seven games – so he’s evidently back to his best. United will loathe his time out if he’s sidelined for a while – but Amorim’s start to home life could see him get through just fine.
