Man United “kept informed” about Real Madrid’s Rodrygo ahead of potential summer transfer swoop

Rodrygo

Manchester United are reportedly being kept abreast about any transfer developments regarding Real Madrid forward Rodrygo amidst uncertainties over his long-term future in Spain.

United are set to dip into the market for an attacker when the summer transfer window opens.

This term, Erik ten Hag’s men have struggled for goals and it’s a situation Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS are eager to address. Rasmus Hojlund has shown glimpses of his brilliance but it remains clear that the Dane needs help as he cannot be solely relied upon to lead the line for the club every week.

Combine this with the fact that Anthony Martial is expected to leave Old Trafford at the end of the campaign when his contract expires and United’s need for reinforcements up front becomes even more urgent. This is where Rodrygo comes in.

A previous report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that United were “closely monitoring” the situation of Rodrygo. It then emerged that Ten Hag’s side had even set aside substantial funds to get his signing over the line ahead of rivals like Liverpool, who are also thought to be admirers of his.

More recently, it was relayed that Rodrygo, whose position in the Real Madrid team could become untenable following the imminent arrivals of Kylian Mbappe and Endrick to the Santiago Bernabeu, has no interest whatsoever in joining United.

It’s believed that the Brazil international wants a stable and ambitious project. He also wants to fight for the most prestigious trophies and honours and at the moment, United simply can’t offer that to him.

However, if a fresh report is to be believed, the 20-time English champions’ pursuit of the 23-year-old is not completely over.

United are being “kept informed” about the Los Blancos star.

Manchester City and Liverpool are believed to be maintaining a “watching brief” on Rodrygo as they also contemplate going in for him this summer.

Additionally, “Manchester United, alongside Arsenal and Chelsea, are being ‘kept informed’ by intermediaries.”

Rodrygo is enjoying a fine season. He has so far plundered 17 goals and eight assists in 44 games across all competitions for his side.

He has undoubtedly been one of Carlo Ancelotti’s men and played a big part in Madrid’s progression to the semi-final of the Champions League at the expense of Pep Guardiola’s men.

Another point of attraction with regard to Rodrygo is that he is versatile and can play to great effect across all positions in the front line.
