DONE DEAL: Man United completes deal for 24-year-old ultra-talented defender, Medical completed yesterday as unveiling is slated to hold today

Man United have given the green light to hire the services of Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window.

The Old Trafford outfit are looking for a quality center back to replace Raphael Varane and the Dutch international is in the lime light again.

According to The Times, INEOS has suggested the signing of De Ligt for Man Utd and Ten Hag has approved the idea of reuniting with the Oranje star.

Talks between the clubs have not started as yet but the Red Devils have been told that the defender has been put up for sale.

According to Florian Plettenberg, Man Utd have initiated talks with the surrounding of De Ligt to secure his signature.

The Sky Sports journalist has revealed the 24-year-old would be willing to move to Old Trafford as he does not want to warm the bench at the Allianz.

Reports this summer have indicated that the former Juventus star, who still has three years left on his contract with the Bavarians, is going to cost around £42.5million.

Last season, he only started 16 games in the league for Bayern. Moreover, at the European championships, thus far, the 45-capped international has only warmed the bench and is yet to feature under Koeman.

The coach has preferred skipper Virgil van Dijk and Stefan de Vrij in the central defense and De Ligt is expected to be on the bench again vs Romania next week.

Ten Hag’s Ajax side won the domestic double and almost reached the final of the CL in 2019 and De Ligt was his captain.

“I have agreed to let him join Man United since he has the guts to threaten me but let it be known that I’m not responsible if he the club ruined his career”: Club Manager finally give up on keeping £51m Man United transfer target after the star requested for transfer multiple times

Manchester United continue to be linked with new signings this summer with Erik ten Hag surely keen to bring in at least one new midfield addition.

Euro 2024 and Copa America continue to attract all of the attention but the transfer window is likely to explode.

July is upon us and Premier League clubs will certainly begin to accelerate business ahead of the new season.

Manchester United will be no different and Erik ten Hag needs reinforcements after a disappointing season.

We would expect signings all over the pitch to bolster the United squad but the centre of midfield looks to be a key area of focus.

Casemiro’s future is unclear, loanee Sofyan Amrabat has returned to Fiorentina and Christian Eriksen is rumoured to be available this summer.

Kobbie Mainoo’s emergence has been a welcome boost but United surely have to dip into the market for a couple of midfield players this summer.

Manchester United given Manuel Ugarte boost

A number of midfielders have already been linked with United but the strongest rumour right now surrounds Paris Saint-Germain ace Manuel Ugarte.

Reports last week suggested that United had opened talks to sign Ugarte and had even had a bid rejected by PSG.

United are thought to be well short of PSG’s asking price right now but the Uruguayan has become a prime target.

An aggressive defensive midfielder, Ugarte was outstanding with Sporting in Portugal before heading to PSG for £51million last summer.

Ugarte started the season well but was in and out of the team towards the end of the campaign.

That means PSG may be open to selling and The Mirror (30/06, p79) claim that boss Luis Enrique is now ‘prepared’ to sanction a deal.

It’s stated that United have now held two rounds of talks for Ugarte and the midfielder fancies the move to Old Trafford.

United view Ugarte as the ideal replacement for Casemiro in the long term with the 23-year-old still having a bright future ahead of him.

Enrique being open to a deal is certainly a boost for United and it’s one hurdle cleared as talks continue over a potential deal.

Bayern stance on Ugarte

United won’t be the only club interested in Ugarte.

The move to PSG hasn’t worked as hoped but he has previously shown his quality as a combative defensive midfielder.

PSG’s willingness to sell will certainly drive interest elsewhere but United won’t face competition from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich as things stand.

Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg claims that Ugarte is currently ‘not a topic of interest’ at Bayern despite rumours about a potential move.

Plettenberg adds that Ugarte is now a ‘serious target’ for United, so Bayern not being in the race is certainly a bonus for United.

That’s a double boost in terms of Enrique’s stance and Bayern not planning to join the race, so it’s now down to United to try and thrash out a deal with PSG.

“They will officially unveil tomorrow…I’m excited and even the fans too”: Erik ten Hag confirms Man United’s THREE secret transfer deals as official announcement is slated on Monday

Manchester United enter July with an exciting month ahead, with 2024 pre-season set to begin in a week’s time.

Manager Erik ten Hag has been retained after winning the FA Cup, but he is under pressure to deliver an improved 2023/24 Premier League season.

No signings have yet been made, yet we are just two weeks away from the first pre-season game.

But with June 30 now passed, the likes of Anthony Martial and Raphael Varane have now been released, clearing wage space.

July 1 has been an active day in the past for United, and there are a few announcements we can potentially expect and see some clarity on.

New kit announcement

This is locked in. Footy Headlines report Manchester United’s home kit for 2024/25 will be announced on July 1.

The kit will be the first Manchester United kit with new sponsor Snapdragon. The kit will be manufactured by Adidas, and a preview can be seen below.

Erik ten Hag contract

Manchester United are negotiating with manager Erik ten Hag over a new contract extension. Discussions over a new deal have been ongoing over the past fortnight.

United will want this wrapped up quickly and announcing an agreement would be a positive statement of intent. Let’s get it fixed up before the players return for pre-season.

Mixed in with this, could include Ten Hag’s new assistants, with Ruud van Nistelrooy and Rene Hake set to join, with Benni McCarthy outgoing.

Jonny Evans contract

As of July 1, Jonny Evans will be a free agent. United have been in discussions with the Northern Ireland defender over a new deal.

The Athletic reported there is ‘optimism’ at Old Trafford that Evans will sign a new deal, continuing to provide valuable back-up in central defence.

Tom Heaton contract

Similar to Jonny Evans, goalkeeper Tom Heaton will be out of contract on July 1. United are also continuing to speak to him over a new deal.

United could move to bring clarity to the situations of both players by announcing extensions as quickly as possible, if an agreement has been struck.

Shola Shoretire future

Talented playmaker Shola Shoretire is now out of contract. When announcing the club’s retained list last month, United stated they were continuing discussions with the 20-year-old.

Shoretire became one of Manchester United’s youngest ever players under former boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, but he has not had a look-in under Erik ten Hag.

Expect some clarity to be provided, with it suggested via Manchester World last week that Shoretire will not agree terms on a new deal and will leave Manchester United.

Joshua Zirkzee release clause

Manchester United have been closely monitoring Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee, with Sky Sports reporting the club are expected to pay his release clause.

Zirkzee’s release clause becomes active on July 1. Other clubs are looking at the striker too, and United can show how serious they are about him by striking early.

There will still be work to do in order to win the race for the striker, but by triggering the clause, the matter of paying the £34 million fee to Bologna will be one step completed.

Sofyan Amrabat exit

Manchester United have not yet confirmed what will happen with FA Cup hero Sofyan Amrabat, whose loan expired on June 30.

Last year it was at this time United announced loanees Marcel Sabitzer and Wout Weghorst will not be kept on. Expect similar with Amrabat.

United do have an option to buy Amrabat, which had to be exercised before June 30. In the absence of this, expect clarity that he will head back to Fiorentina

“My Man United team-mate is now best player the Euro’s currently…I’m jealous of him”: Bruno Fernandes says his Man United’s teammate is now the Best player at Euro currently as he pleads for mercy in case they clash in the competition

Bruno Fernandes has admitted to being ‘in touch’ with England players ahead of Portugal’s last-16 Euro 2024 tie against Slovenia.

In March, Portugal took on Slovenia in a friendly and surprisingly fell to a 2-0 loss against Bostjan Cesar’s men. The game saw the Euro 2016 winners get frustrated by a low block before goals from Adam Cerin and Timi Elsnik saw Slovenia steal the win. Fernandes has now spoken out about the need to make a change if Portugal are to reach the quarter-finals of Euro 2024.

Speaking to the media, Fernandes said: “We spoke about the game in recent days because it’s good for us to have that image where they did a great game against us.

“We had the chance to see what we need to do differently to make sure we hurt them. They have two players up front who combine really well together. This team [Slovenia] has high-quality players and we respect them greatly. We had a friendly where they beat us and this needs to put us on our toes. We need to change, we need to do things differently to make sure we get a positive result.

“For us, it doesn’t matter whether we are playing Slovenia or any other team that are more typical candidate to win the Euros because our goal is the same: we respect every opponent … we don’t look at the name of the team, we look at the players because we need to study them closely.”

Fernandes was also asked about whether he had been in touch with his Manchester United team-mates Luke Shaw and Kobbie Mainoo in the England camp, with the Three Lions having faced Slovenia in a 0-0 draw in the group stage.

He said: “I’ve been in touch [with them] but not been speaking about the games or something that we could do different because we play different football. England play in a certain way, we play in a different way, so it’s not going to help me much. I trust my teammates and we as a team really trust the staff and the backroom staff to prepare us best to approach the game.”

Roberto Martinez’s men have not been at the top of their game through the group stages and lost their last outing against Georgia. They will hope to put on a much-improved display when they take on Slovenia on Monday, July 1 at Deutsche Bank
