EPL: He needs help – Peter Schmeichel worried about Man United star

Former Manchester United goalkeeper, Peter Schmeichel has said the club’s youngster, Kobbie Mainoo needs “a bit of help.”

This is following the club’s disappointing run of form.

Mainoo, 19, has enjoyed a stellar breakout season at Old Trafford during the ongoing 2023-24 football campaign.

He has established himself as a regular under manager Erik ten Hag, making 29 appearances across all competitions.

He has been one of United’s best performers in a disappointing campaign.

“The questions being asked of Mainoo this season is just ridiculous for a young player,” he said on Premier League Productions.

To have to carry the team and have responsibility. He needs a bit of help and I don’t think Amrabat (re-starting with Mainoo in midfield v Arsenal) is that help. I think he is struggling on his own.”

Rasmus Hojlund won’t become Aguero, Haaland – Gary Neville tells Man United

Former Manchester United star, Gary Neville has told the club’s fans to perish the hope that striker, Rasmus Hojlund will one day become a gifted Premier League striker like Sergio Aguero or Erling Haaland.

He, however, said the player could develop into a 20-goal-a-season striker like Ollie Watkins.

Hojlund left Italian Serie A side, Atalanta to join the Red Devils last summer and has been the club’s first-choice striker this season.

But Neville thinks it would have been better if the 21-year-old played as a back-up behind a more experienced striker.

He has managed 14 goals and provided two assists in 40 games for the Red Devils this season and is currently going through a rough patch.

“I looked at Ollie Watkins before. He’s not going to become a Haaland or an Aguero, one of the great strikers in Premier League history, I don’t think.

But he can become an Ollie Watkins. You can look at someone like that, I think I can get to 20 goals,” he told Sky Sports.

“I wish he was the second striker this se

ason. I wish he was learning.”
