In a post-match comment, Eriksen expressed his frustration at Manchester United’s recurring problems since start of the new season. He mentioned that the head coach does not have a clue on how to solve Man Utd problems. This statement has sparked controversies at the old Trafford leaving Ten Hag furious.

Christian Eriksen has addressed Manchester United’s recurring issue after their disappointing 3-2 loss to Galatasaray on Tuesday.

Despite taking the lead twice at Old Trafford, the Red Devils conceded three goals, marking their second Champions League group stage defeat, and their fifth in seven games across all competitions.

United’s New signing Rasmus Hojlund scored twice for the host, but they couldn’t hold onto their lead for long in the match.

Galatasaray also missed a second-half penalty, which was awarded when Casemiro fouled Dries Mertens and was subsequently sent off.

However, Mauro Icardi who had earlier missed a penalty, capitalized on another opportunity chipping the ball past United goalkeeper Andre Onana for the winning goal.

He said, “I think we had some good spells in the game, but at the moment when we go ahead, we always seem to concede shortly after. Of course, that makes it very difficult for us to keep control of the game, and that’s something that we have to change very quickly.”

The Danish midfielder also denied rumours that lapses in the team is on account of poor confidence, he rather attributed it to “lack of awareness and sharpness” in crucial moments.

He added that Manchester United are making the wrong decisions at the wrong times. “We shouldn’t be throwing that away, and we’ve done that in other games this season. So I don’t think it’s a lack of confidence; we’re just making the wrong decisions at the wrong times, and it’s costing us.”

The manager of Manchester United, Erik Ten Hag, made two tactical errors that had a big impact on the outcome of a thrilling match between Galatasaray and Manchester United, which the Turkish team ultimately won 3-2.

First off, it was a bad idea to use Sofyan Amrabat as a left-back. Despite his versatility and the fact that he is primarily a midfielder, Amrabat’s defensive substitution made United vulnerable on the left flank. As Amrabat struggled with defensive positioning and tracking back, Galatasaray took advantage of this weakness to create numerous opportunities down the left.

Second, it was confusing to choose Mason Mount as a central midfielder (CMF) rather than an attacking midfielder (AMF). In a more senior role, Mount would have been more effective because of his inventiveness and knack for breaking down barriers. He frequently appeared deeper on the field in this game, which reduced his influence in the final third. The playmaking skills of Mount were successfully neutralized by Galatasaray’s midfield, which limited United’s options for attack.

By taking advantage of the holes on the left side and Mount’s diminished influence in a more advanced role, Wilfried Zaha and Kerem Aktürkoglu helped Galatasaray profit from these tactical blunders. Although United did manage to create a few chances, their tactical alignment made it difficult for them to control the midfield and set the tempo of the game.

Also important was Mauro Icardi’s missed penalty in the 78th minute. If the conversion had been made, the score would have been tied, which could have changed how the game would have ended. Ten Hag’s choice to keep Icardi on the penalty spot despite his earlier miss showed a lack of flexibility in high-stakes situations.

In sum, Manchester United’s 3-2 loss to Galatasaray was caused by their tactical errors of playing Amrabat as a left-back and using Mount as a CMF rather than an AMF. These choices exposed United defensively and diminished their offensive potential, which ultimately led to their defeat in this thrilling match.
