Former England football and Man City manager has passed away at the age of 76 as a result of cancer
Sven-Goran Eriksson, the former England football manager, has passed away at the age of 76 after battling pancreatic cancer. The Swedish coach, known for leading England from 2001 to 2006, was surrounded by his family during his final moments. According to Daily Mail report.
Eriksson made history as the first foreign manager of the England national team. During his tenure, he guided the “Golden Generation” of players, including David Beckham, Steven Gerrard, and Wayne Rooney, to the quarter-finals of the 2002 and 2006 World Cups and Euro 2004. One of his most memorable achievements was England’s 5-1 victory over Germany in a World Cup qualifier in Munich in 2001.
Before taking on the England job, Eriksson enjoyed a successful club career, winning major trophies with teams like Lazio and Benfica. He later managed clubs in various countries, including Manchester City and Leicester City, and coached national teams such as Mexico and Ivory Coast.
Prince William, a patron of the Football Association, paid tribute to Eriksson, describing him as a “true gentleman of the game” who always displayed charisma and passion. The Football Association and many of Eriksson’s former players also expressed their condolences and gratitude for his contributions to English football.
Eriksson’s family has requested privacy during this time of mourning, and tributes continue to pour in from the football community and fans around the world.

Man City identify shock forward to replace Julian Alvarez with club needing backup for Erling Haaland
Manchester City have reportedly identified a shock transfer target as their search to find a backup striker to Erling Haaland continues.
City allowed Julian Alvarez to move to Atletico Madrid earlier this month, with manager Pep Guardiola stating that he nor the club would stand in any player’s way if they wished to leave.
That leaves only Haaland in terms of City’s senior striking options, with Alvarez having been capable of playing in attacking midfield and as a centre forward.
Oscar Bobb is out injured with a broken leg, while academy graduate Liam Delap was also sold to Ipswich for £15 million.
City are also closing in on a £1.2 million move for West Ham starlet Divin Mubama, but it is unclear whether Guardiola considers him as a genuine first team option just yet.
The Athletic now claim that City have identified a fresh transfer target that nobody saw coming.
It is claimed that they have looked into a potential deal to sign FC Copenhagen forward Orri Oskarsson.
The 19-year-old scored 10 goals in the Danish Superliga last season, and has already kick-started the current campaign with five goals in just six games.
He is an imposing figure, standing at 6ft 1in tall, and has already collected eight caps for the Iceland national team.
He also played against City in the Champions League last season.

The Athletic report that Oskarsson, despite his relative lack of experience, is being considered as a backup for Haaland by City.
It is claimed that he could be available for around £17 million – meaning City would still be able to keep hold of most of the total £81 million fee they are set to receive from Atletico for Alvarez.
However, the report adds that they are ‘unlikely’ to pursue a move for Oskarsson just yet, but it is a deal that they could revisit at a later date.
Oskarsson is expected to leave Copenhagen this summer, though, with Premier League clubs believed to be keen – meaning City could change their minds and decide to try and sign him.
