Four united Starlets including Mainoo and Garnacho reveals which former Red they would’ve liked to play alongside
AcademyArena Utd asked four young Reds which former Manchester United players they’d have liked to play alongside.
Current first-team starlets Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho shared their answers and neither will come as any surprise to the Old Trafford faithful. After all, United’s illustrious and successful history offers up countless legends of the game, many of whom were homegrown talent.
Mainoo, fresh off the back of a significant career milestone by scoring his maiden senior goal, picked Cristiano Ronaldo, who is now seeing out his career away from Europe and with Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr. The 18-year-old is unfortunate to have missed out on Ronaldo’s second stint, as his breakthrough campaign came this season.
One player who was lucky enough to share the stage with his idol was Garnacho, and he’s made his love for the five-time Ballon d’Or winner no secret by frequently recreating his iconic celebrations. The Argentine named United and England hero Wayne Rooney as his choice, as did U21s captain Dan Gore.
Isak Hansen-Aarøen didn’t opt for one of Sir Alex Ferguson’s boys, nor a treble-winner, he told AcademyArena that he wished he could’ve played with Carrington graduate Angel Gomes, who left Old Trafford in 2020 for Lille.
