Manchester United host title contenders Arsenal in the Premier League.

Kickoff at Old Trafford is at 15:30 GMT.

Arsenal lost top spot on Saturday to Manchester City who won 4-0 at Fulham.

‘They were far below the standard of United’

United manager Erik ten Hag, speaking with Sky Sports, shared his thoughts before the match: “They were far below the standard of United I expect from this team [in relation to the 4-0 Crystal Palace loss earlier in the week]. We didn’t have the high performance and mentality [required], and that is the least I can expect [from the side].

“We have to fight and stay behind the team. [On the decision to play Amrabat] First of all, Arsenal are very strong in possession. We need players who can work the middle and intercept balls.

“There is a lot of competition in the side. He deserves a chance and it is a great opportunity for him.

“The last few days we trained with him [Fernandes] but he didn’t make it yesterday. He trained both days but was not far enough [along] for him to recover from injury.

“We don’t have options there [in regards to the back four]. You have to protect them. You have to take responsibility.”

Bukayo Saka and Takehiro Tomiyasu are both doubts for Arsenal.

Defender Jurrien Timber has been back in full training with the Gunners for two weeks and could make the squad for the first time since injuring his knee on the first day of the season.

Mikel Arteta could name the same starting lineup for the fourth consecutive match if Saka and Tomiyasu are passed fit.

Manchester United’s Europa League ambitions hang in the balance

Not only have Manchester United missed out on the Champions League qualification spots this season, but their Europa League hopes are also in the balance.

Chelsea’s late turnaround at Nottingham Forest has kept their late-season run on course, and the Blues could even grab fifth spot from Spurs.

Both sides’ goal difference is level on 12 while United have plenty to do on the front.

Manchester City and Arsenal hope for favours from rivals

Should Manchester City’s rivals Manchester United stop Arsenal from winning at Old Trafford, then the title could be heading to the Etihad on Tuesday.

The Gunners will certainly be hoping, no matter the outcome against United, their north London rivals, Tottenham Hotspur, take points off City in two days.

The form book, as we’ve established, is with City and their two-goal hero at Fulham, Josko Gvardiol, who has five goals and one assist in his last seven games.

Can Arsenal stop relentless Manchester City?

Manchester City are now on a 21-match unbeaten run in the Premier League.

Pep Guardiola’s side have only dropped points in four of those games.

Two more wins and there is nothing Arsenal can do to stop the defending champions from lifting another title.
