Main reason why I celebrated the way I did against Chelsea – Ruud van Nistelrooy
Manchester United recently locked horns with Chelsea Football Club in the English Premier League and it was a tough encounter as the game ended in a 1-1 draw.
Bruno Fernandes opened the scoreline for Manchester United in the second half after converting from the penalty spot but few minutes later, Chelsea found the equalizer courtesy of a brilliant finish from Moises Caicedo and that was how the game ended.
After the game, Man United interim manager, Ruud van Nistelrooy was interviewed and he revealed the reason behind his celebration after Bruno Fernandes goal.
Speaking during the Interview, Ruud van Nistelrooy revealed that he was really excited after the goal because it was a big moment to score and go 1-0 up.
“In his Words”
“Before I came to Man United, I was looking to manage, no doubt about that so when United came with this opportunity, so for me, It was a fantastic opportunity, I wanted to be here so I put that aside and for me, it was a deliberate decision to come here and help out, I just want to stay and do the same thing, so for me, that’s my focus at the moment. Yeah, I was really excited after Bruno Fernandes scored that penalty, the release was fantastic, It was a big moment to score, get 1-0 up and you know at Old Trafford, they will be a buzz around”, Ruud van Nistelrooy said.
The English Premier League shared the video of the Interview on their official instagram page today being Sunday the 3rd day of November, 2024 and it stirred massive reactions from football fans across the globe. Click on the link below to watch the video.
Manchester United and Chelsea drew 1-1 in an entertaining yet low quality game between the two teams.
‘Can do better’ is the report card you could make of pretty much every Manchester United performance this season.
If it’s not a midweek Carabao Cup clash, then watching the Red Devils has been a frustrating experience.
The 1-1 draw against Chelsea was no different, with player snatching at chances, relying on a penalty to score, and then giving up the lead just four minutes later.

Chelsea boss on United duo
Being too wasteful was a problem for Manchester United, who failed to score from open play. Marcus Rashford came closest, hitting the woodwork.
United attempted 11 shots at goal, and if not for some poor decision-making or lacklustre execution, the team could have tested Chelsea further.
Speaking after the game, Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca admitted there were two Manchester United players he knew he could not shut off completely.
Maresca told Chelsea’s website: “Against them you are going to concede some chances, especially counter-attacks, because of the skills of the players, with Rashford and Garnacho in behind. We knew that.
He added that he felt Chelsea did well despite this, commenting: “I think overall we controlled the game quite well.”
Alejandro Garnacho had two shots, landing just one on target. His overall play was poor, managing to complete just 76 per cent of his passes.
Marcus Rashford also managed two shots, one saved, the other hitting the post just before half-time. Chelsea did do pretty well to limit the pair to just four attempts combined.
United give up lead
Manchester United had led 1-0 through Bruno Fernandes’ penalty. Within just four minutes, Moises Caicedo had equalised.
Maresca opined that he felt it was even tougher to score against United in those circumstances.
He said: “I think we did the most difficult thing in this stadium and against this team, which is coming back after they scored.”
He added that Chelsea became too careless after the equaliser and could have lost the game.
“We were down but came back and probably after it was 1-1, because of the desire to try to win the game, we exposed ourselves too much in the last five or 10 minutes and conceded a bit more.”
