Erik ten Hag will have to make three changes on Saturday night when Manchester United travel to Burnley in the Premier League. The Red Devils are in desperate need of three points after losing four of their first six games this season, most recently a 4-3 defeat against Bayern Munich.

Ten Hag’s team in Group A of the Champions League at the Allianz Arena was not the strongest.

But with a host of first-team names set to return, Express Sport has identified three stars who started in Bavaria and are set to retire at Turf Moor.

Vittorio Lindelof

Victor Lindelof and Lisandro Martinez have looked completely out of sync at the heart of Ten Hag’s defense since Raphael Varane pulled out of the 3-2 half-time win against Nottingham Forest in August. But the Frenchman returned to training earlier this week and is expected to return to action against Burnley.

United have conceded 14 goals in their opening six matches, largely due to Varane’s absence.

He would add an extra level of quality and composure to the visitors’ defense, something United have sorely lacked in their three consecutive defeats against Arsenal, Brighton and Bayern.

However, Lindelof cannot keep his place and his uninspiring form could even open the door for Harry Maguire once he recovers from a complaint which kept him out of the midweek trip to Germany.

Cristiano Eriksen

United’s midfield has been a major problem this season, with opponents easily able to bypass the aging duo of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen.

The Danish attacking midfielder performed poorly against Bayern and, despite a lack of options, has to remain on the bench due to Ten Hag’s injury crisis.

Mason Mount returned to training this week alongside Varane and could make his return against Burnley.

Scott McTominay could also return to the starting lineup after Ten Hag dropped him against Bayern. Or Hannibal Mejbri could have a big chance.

But it is probably still too early for Sofyan Amrabat, but the Moroccan is also continuing his recovery on the training pitch.

Facundo Pellistri

Many United fans are calling for Facundo Pellistri to be given a chance under Ten Hag.

And the Dutchman has placed a lot of trust in him at Bayern, giving him only his second start since joining the club in 2020.

But Pellistri struggled to impress against Alphonso Davies and he may not get a second chance to impress against Burnley. Alejandro Garnacho would like to return to the starting lineup and is the obvious option to replace Pellitri with Antony and Jadon Sancho still unavailable.
