Man Utd have given the go-ahead to finalize Sofyan Amrabat’s transfer after the star packs his bags

Manchester United transfer target Sofyan Amrabat will be allowed to leave Fiorentina in the coming days – but only if a proper offer is made to the Italian club

Fiorentina chief executive Giuseppe Barone has given Manchester United the green light to sign Sofyan Amrabat ahead of next week’s transfer deadline.

The Red Devils have courted Amrabat all summer while Erik ten Hag continues to seek reinforcements for his squad. Ten Hag is currently hands tied in the market after spending heavily on Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund, but it is understood the Dutchman is still interested in bringing Amrabat to Old Trafford.

With just a week to go until the end of the transfer window, time is running out for a deal – but Barone has reiterated that Fiorentina will not stop Amrabat moving forward.

The Fiorentina coach, meanwhile, told Sky Sports: “Sofyan doesn’t work with the team – but we still haven’t received an offer for Amrabat this summer. If there are any players who are not satisfied here, we can of course consider offers for them.”

had excluded Amrabat from his squad for the next leg of the Europa League Conference play-offs against Rapid Vienna. The midfielder is also reportedly training away from his teammates ahead of a possible transfer.

Even though Fiorentina insist no formal offer has yet been made for Amrabat, Manchester United’s interest in the midfielder dates back to the start of the summer transfer window. As early as July, reports emerged in Italy that Amrabat had already ‘packed his bags’ ahead of the planned move to Old Trafford.

In the coming days, United are expected to step up their attempts to sign several players who no longer qualify in order to raise additional transfer funds.

The club have already sacked Fred and a handful of young players, but there is interest in older players like Donny van de Beek and Scott McTominay, both of whom could be signed. Former club captain Harry Maguire’s next decision is unclear after he turned down a transfer to West Ham.
