Man Utd player submit transfer request as Barcelona develops interest

Manchester United could be tempted to part ways with their 26-year-old forward as Barcelona lurks around with a potential bid for him.

It’s no secret that the Red Devils are looking to move some players away this summer in other to create opportunities for new arrivals as they still want to bolster their ranks.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is reportedly the only major name to have left the club this summer, sealing a permanent move to London side West Ham United. However, the likes of Scott McTominay could still follow the English defender out, with Napoli now keen on his signature.

That aside, it is Rashford who could yet be the biggest exit of their summer business, as top Spanish La Liga side have now shown interest in the attacker.

According to Daily Express, Barcelona are reportedly targeting Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford as their next summer signing after failing to get Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao.

The Catalans made Williams one of their major targets this summer but have only succeeded getting the signature of his countryman Dani Olmo. There were reports that the winger could still sign for Barca but after recently taking the famous No.10 jersey number at Athletic Bilbao, there is little the club could do to convince him to make a switch.

The Catalan side still have their option open, with a deal for Rashford currently considered. According to Transfermarkt, the Man Utd No.10 is valued at €60m. Whether Barca can match his transfer fee remains to be known.

Manchester United legend, Ryan Giggs, has labelled Aaron Wan-Bissaka as one of the best defenders in the Premier League following his recent transfer to West Ham United.

Giggs said this after Man United manager, Erik ten Hag sanctioned the 26-year-old’s transfer away from Old Trafford this month.

Ten Hag decided to allow Wan-Bissaka leave Old Trafford following the arrival of new defenders Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.

Speaking about Wan-Bissaka, Giggs said the player is very difficult to play against.

“I would’ve stayed away from him, especially later on in my career,” Giggs told the Webby & O’Neill YouTube channel.

“I would have tried to take him places he didn’t want to go because, one on one, I think he’s one of the best in the league. Over the 90, he’s very tough to play against.”

According to a report by Vanguard, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have reportedly finalized an agreement to sign Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman from Atalanta.

The 26-year-old winger’s move to the French giants comes as PSG seeks to address their attacking options following an injury to Gonçalo Ramos.

Lookman, who played a crucial role in Atalanta’s Europa League victory last season, was notably absent from the squad in their recent 2-0 win against Lecce. His exclusion was reportedly to facilitate discussions about his future, which have now culminated in a deal with PSG.

The forward, valued at €40 million by Atalanta, had attracted interest from several top clubs, including Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester United. However, PSG’s urgency to find a replacement for Ramos, who will be out for the next three months due to injury, has accelerated Lookman’s move to the Parc des Princes.

Lookman joined Atalanta from Leicester City in August 2022 and has been a standout performer, netting 32 goals in all competitions. His most notable contribution came in the Europa League final, where he scored a hat-trick to secure Atalanta’s first major trophy in 61 years.

PSG’s manager Luis Enrique, whose team triumphed 4-1 against Le Havre in their opening match of the season, is keen on integrating Lookman into the squad to bolster their attacking depth. The acquisition is expected to enhance PSG’s capabilities as they navigate both domestic and European competitions.
