Man Utd players blame Manager Erik Ten Hag for losing to City rivals
Manchester United’s players have reportedly raised concerns about the training methods of their coach, Erik ten Hag, which could be behind the team’s injury crisis. The team had to play without nine of its players in the recent Manchester derby, and ten Hag had to replace Marcus Rashford and Jonny Evans during the game due to fitness concerns.
This season, the team has suffered from 47 separate cases of injuries and illness, leading to players missing at least one game. Some of the players believe that Ten Hag’s training regime is too intense, with United playing 62 games in all competitions last season, and the intensity in training being too much this season.
Only three United outfield players, Bruno Fernandes, Alejandro Garnacho, and Diogo Dalot, have not had an injury this season. Tyrrell Malacia has missed 37 games in all competitions, Lisandro Martinez has been out for 27 matches, while Mason Mount and Luke Shaw have been out for 24 and 22 games, respectively. Casemiro and Anthony Martial have also missed 17 and 14 games, respectively.
Ten Hag has expressed hope that the injury crisis will improve after the international break at the end of March, but according to data released by Premier Injuries last week, Manchester United have suffered 28 injuries this season, which is the second-highest tally in the Premier League after Newcastle’s 29. United have lost players for a combined 979 days this season, the sixth-most in the Premier League.
This injury crisis has had a significant impact on the team’s performance, with Manchester United currently sitting sixth in the table, 19 points behind Liverpool, the league leaders, and 11 points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa. The team is set to play against Everton at Old Trafford in the early kick-off on Saturday.
‘Not a lot of people do that’… Thierry Henry seriously impressed by Manchester United midfielder
Much has been made about Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford scoring a superb goal against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, but Sky Sports pundit Thierry Henry has highlighted another Old Trafford star.
Manchester United lost to Manchester City in the Manchester derby this past weekend.
Although City conceded early in the Premier League match at the Etihad Stadium, they showed their class in the second half and picked up all three points in the end.
Marcus Rashford scored the goal for United. The 26-year-old, who was hitting the headlines in the build-up to the Manchester derby, found the back of the net with a superb strike from distance.
Thierry Henry praises Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes vs Manchester City
Arsenal legend and Sky Sports pundit Thierry Henry has noted how good the assist from Bruno Fernandes was for Rashford.
The Premier League great has explained why the seemingly simple pass from United and Portugal international attacking midfielder Fernandes was perfect for Rashford.
Bruno Fernandes
“Bruno Fernandes, and I know that the strike of Rashford is magnificent, but you will see on the replay, Bruno Fernandes is telling Rashford, ‘Look, I am going to put that on the platter for you. Wait, I will hold, I will hold, and I will give you a ball for you to strike’.
“Not like a hard ball for a one-two, no, and I know people will tell me, that’s obvious. But, no, not a lot of people do that. He put that on the platter for him. John Stones, unfortunately for him turns, and what a strike and what a start for Man United at the beginning of the game.”
My View: Bruno Fernandes is a big player for Manchester United
Manchester United are not having a particularly good season, and one of the players who has often been criticised is Bruno Fernandes.
Pundits have pointed at how Fernandes berates his teammates when things go wrong and how he rolls on the pitch trying to win free kicks.
One thing that many overlook is how good Fernandes is as a playmaker. He creates chances for his United teammates.
The 29-year-old is a very good attacking midfielder. He has scored three goals and given six assists in 26 Premier League matches this season. In six UEFA Champions League appearances for Erik ten Hag’s side this campaign, he scored two goals and provided two assists.
