Man Utd Transfer: I told him he has a place in the team but He’s ‘reached an agreement’ to leave the club despite my advice – Ruben Amorim

Manchester United’s Rasmus Hojlund celebrates scoring their third goal with Alejandro Garnacho

Manchester United have received a huge offer for a “sensational” player, who has now agreed personal terms over a deal, according to a report.

Amorim looking to reshape his squad

Ruben Amorim is looking to put his own stamp on the Man United squad, which means there could be a number of departures in the January transfer window, with three forwards potentially set for exits.

Marcus Rashford has made it clear that he wants to leave his boyhood club, with Barcelona among the clubs interested in the Englishman, who has found game time hard to come by since Amorim’s arrival.

The Red Devils are also open to letting Antony leave this month should they receive a suitable offer, with the Brazilian winger flattering to deceive ever since arriving from Ajax.

Alejandro Garnacho has featured regularly in the Premier League this season, but there is now major doubt over the winger’s future at Old Trafford, with Chelsea becoming the latest club to hold talks over a deal.

There is also interest from Italy, with reports from earlier this week detailing that Napoli are ready to increase their offer for the 20-year-old, who is valued at £59m by United.

According to a new report from Tuttosport (via Sport Witness), the deal is now advancing, with Napoli submitting a €55m (£46m) offer for Garnacho, having generated the funds for a deal by selling Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to Paris Saint-Germain.Watch live sports online

Manchester United’s Alejandro Garnacho applauds fans-1

The Argentina international is said to have agreed contract terms with the Serie A side, indicating that he is keen on the move, but an improved bid may need to be submitted to get a deal over the line.

Man United are maintaining a €70m (£59m) asking price for the youngster, so the two clubs are still some way apart.

Man Utd should sell Garnacho

It is always a shame to see a player who has progressed through the youth ranks move on to pastures new, but if Garnacho wants to leave, Amorim shouldn’t stand in his way.

The Argentinian has shown some promising signs in a United shirt, receiving praise for his “sensational” performance against Aston Villa from reporter Michael Plant just over a year ago.

The left-winger has scored three Premier League goals this season, but he has been unable to cement his place in the starting XI, often being utilised as a substitute, having failed to really kick on since last season.

As such, Man United should look to cash in on Garnacho this month, and raising £59m from his sale would potentially allow them to bring in a top-quality replacement that fits more into Amorim’s plans.

He’s ‘reached an agreement’ to leave the club

The first Manchester United star to leave under Ruben Amorim’s era is all but confirmed as the player has reportedly ‘reached an agreement’ to leave the club.

United are currently 12th in the Premier League table having beaten Southampton 3-1 at Old Trafford on Thursday, courtesy of a late 12-minute Amad hat-trick.

Just under three months into his tenure at the club, Amorim has had mixed results with his squad and a number of star players have been linked with a move away including academy graduates Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho.

However, the first player to depart looks set to be Tyrell Malacia, who, according to Voetbal International, has ‘reached an agreement’ to leave the club on loan until the end of the season.

Malacia has made just two Premier League appearances so far this season and while his destination remains unclear, journalist Joost Blaauwhof claims ‘sources close to the player’ have confirmed his departure in this window.

Malacia joined United from Feyenoord for a fee of £13m in the summer of 2022.

In his first season, he appeared 39 times and was one of Erik ten Hag’s key players during the 2022/23 campaign.

However, he has struggled for fitness and missed 17 months with a serious knee injury before returning during an Under-21s EFL trophy tie against Huddersfield back in November.

He returned to the senior squad, starting as a left-wing back in their 3-2 win over Bodo/Glimt with Amorim praising the 25-year-old saying he did ‘really well’.

He told club media: “It was huge for him, the confidence of everybody, I think he did really well. It was more than a year without playing and the way he behaved, so brave with the ball, I’m really happy with him.”

Though it is unclear if the club will look to replace him straight away, Caught Offside have previously suggested that the boss wants to bring in Wolves left-back Rayan Ait-Nouri.

It is thought Wolves would ask for around £30m to part with the player who is under contract until the end of the 2025/26 season.

Speaking to BBC Sport of his plans this January transfer window Amorim said: “We don’t have that possibility [to make signing] in January if we don’t take some players [out].

“You know the situation better than me. It is not that I am arriving here and know I can spend money changing the team.”

Rashford and Garnacho are both likely to depart before the end of the month which will provide much needed funds.

The homegrown talents will be seen as 100 per cent profit which will also aid in the clubs pursuit of compliance of Profit and Sustainability Rules.
