Manchester United added more silverware to their trophy cabinet in the early hours of Thursday morning with a 3-2 victory over Real Betis that saw them crowned winners of the Snapdragon Cup.
Erik ten Hag’s side actually fell behind in the first half but roared into an emphatic lead before half-time thanks to goals from Marcus Rashford, Amad Diallo and Casemiro – enough to steer them to a deserved victory.
However, it wasn’t all rosy for United, who found themselves bitten by the injury bug once more.
Here are four things we learned from the game.
Harry Amass is ready

Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia’s troublesome injury records have sparked rumours that United need to sign a new left-back, but 17-year-old Harry Amass may have just answered Ten Hag’s prayers.
The teenager has long been seen as a stand-out prospect in his year group and he has undoubtedly lived up to that billing this summer, following up his impressive showing against Arsenal with an even better outing here.
Amass set up Amad’s goal midway through the first half with a dangerous cross and looked right at home in senior football.
Amad Diallo can be a star

Amad has made no secret of his desire to secure a starting spot at Old Trafford this summer and, based on this performance, it’s hard to imagine a world in which he does not start United’s Premier League opener against Fulham later this month.
The winger undoubtedly caught the eye in attack, winning a penalty to allow Rashford to equalise before scoring a goal of his own, but Amad also put in the dirty work and was a constant nuisance in defence. A selfless performance.
Ten Hag is hardly blessed with healthy attackers at this stage, but that may prove to be a blessing in disguise if it opens up a route to the starting lineup for Amad.
Injury issues continue

It may be a new season, but United have yet to shake off the injury issues which plagued their 2023/24 campaign.
Having already lost Leny Yoro and Rasmus Hojlund against Arsenal, Ten Hag’s squad depth was challenged again here as both Rashford and Antony found themselves unable to complete the game.
Rashford impressed during his hour on the pitch but saw his momentum halted by a heavy challenge which forced him down the tunnel, while Antony’s 23-minute substitute appearance also ended in frustration.
Jadon Sancho offers new striker option

With Hojlund injured and summer signing Joshua Zirkzee not with the pre-season squad, Ten Hag turned to his new best friend Jadon Sancho to spearhead his team and opted to keep Rashford out on the wing.
Sancho clearly operated as a typical false nine, dropping deep and roaming around to try and bring his teammates into the game, and it undoubtedly worked as both Rashford and Amad caught the eye.
While Sancho didn’t offer much in terms of goal threat, there’s no denying his performance may have given Ten Hag something to think about going forward.
