Manchester United fans jubilates as Fabrizio Romano confirms latest transfer update
Manchester United introduced all four new signings to the crowd at Old Trafford for the Premier League opener against Fulham.
One of the new quartet of signings was named as a starter, Noussair Mazraoui, with Joshua Zirkzee and Matthijs de Ligt finishing the game from the bench. Leny Yoro is currently out injured.
The Moroccan came straight into the team amid injuries at full-back, and this made his impressive performance stand out even more. Mazraoui was sharp defensively and also linked up well with the attack.

How much Manchester United paid for Noussair Mazraoui
Manchester United’s move for Noussair Mazraoui was announced shortly after the deal for his now ex-Bayern Munich teammate Matthijs de Ligt.
Mazraoui cost Manchester United a fee of £12.8 million, which could later rise to £17.2 million with add-ons.
Even with the add-ons, Mazraoui is a bargain in comparison to the fees shelled out on right-backs in recent years.
Player Clubs Fee
Achraf Hakimi Inter to PSG £58m
Joao Cancelo Juventus to Man City £55m
Ben White Brighton to Arsenal £50m
Aaron Wan-Bissaka Crystal Palace to Man Utd £50m
Kyle Walker Tottenham to Man City £45m
Pedro Porro Sporting to Tottenham £40m
Achraf Hakimi Real Madrid to Inter £36m
Joao Cancelo Valencia to Juventus £34.5m
Tino Livramento Southampton to Newcastle £32m
Danilo Man City to Juventus £32m
Noussair Mazraoui fee is a bargain
The fee Manchester United paid for Noussair Mazraoui looks like a steal in comparison to the market for right-backs over the past decade.
Mazraoui is a proven performer, who at 26-years-old has his best years ahead of him.
Manager Erik ten Hag handed Mazraoui his debut at Ajax and knows what to expect and how to get the best from the defender, there is no mystery or uncertainty, and that’s part of the reason he went straight into the starting line-up.
Signing a top full-back is difficult, and often expensive, especially one of Mazraoui’s experience.
Mazraoui has won titles in the Netherlands and Germany, with 192 appearances for Ajax and Germany to his name, including 41 in the Champions League. He also has 28 international appearances.
For just £12.8 million, the fee for Mazraoui is one of the best bargains in recent Premier League history.
Mazraoui’s debut was excellent, and it looks like the club have strengthened, despite the fears over letting Aaron Wan-Bissaka leave.

The Red Devils have already finalised four big deals this summer. Joshua Zirkzee was the first to join the club from Italian Serie A side Bologna. Leny Yoro followed later after sealing a switch from French Ligue 1 side Lille. Then, it took a while, but United were able to seal two deals after Yoro, signing Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs de Ligt from Bayern Munich, but they are not done yet.
According to Football Insider, United are still Ken on reinforcing their midfield this summer and are close to sealing the signing of Manuel Ugarte with the club actively working to expedite discussions with Paris Saint-Germain.
The report claims that the Old Trafford side are looking to finalise a deal for the Uruguayan in the coming days. Should the transfer go through, he would become the fifth player to join the club’s first-team squad this summer.
Furthermore, The 23-year-old midfielder is reportedly eager to make the move to Old Trafford, as revealed by top Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano. Ugarte is said to be tempted by the ongoing project at United and desires to continue his career at the Manchester club.
While he patiently waits for the two clubs to reach an agreement, Manuel Ugarte is estimated to be worth approximately £45 million by the Parasians – as revealed by GOAL, so it remains to be seen how much United are willing to pay for his services.
According to Teamtalk, Manchester United is poised to finalize a winger transfer in the coming days after reaching an agreement in principle. Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that this move has been facilitated by a managerial strategy.
The club has been one of the most active in the Premier League this summer, and the period leading up to the August 30 deadline is expected to be particularly busy at Old Trafford. In addition to this transfer, Manchester United is also looking to acquire a new left-back to provide competition and cover for the frequently injured Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.
If two more signings are completed, Manchester United’s major summer acquisitions will total six. Additionally, the club is anticipated to finalize the signing of former Arsenal academy player Chido Obi-Martin.
On the departures side, Raphael Varane, Brandon Williams, and Anthony Martial have left as free agents. Permanent transfers have been completed for Alvaro Fernandez (to Benfica), Aaron Wan-Bissaka (to West Ham), Willy Kambwala (to Villarreal), Donny van de Beek (to Girona), and Mason Greenwood (to Marseille).
Recent updates indicate that Uruguay winger Facundo Pellistri is set to join the list of outgoing players. The 22-year-old is surplus to requirements and, with his contract entering its final year, Manchester United is looking to sell him. While the club has the option to extend his contract by another year, a permanent transfer is seen as beneficial for all parties involved.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed on Sunday that Panathinaikos, the Greek club, is in advanced discussions to sign Pellistri. Romano’s latest update reveals that the deal is “almost there,” with Panathinaikos aiming to finalize the transfer “this week.”
Romano also explained that the move has been influenced by managerial factors. Panathinaikos appointed Diego Alonso as their new manager this summer. Alonso, a fellow Uruguayan, previously managed Pellistri during his tenure with the Uruguayan national team from 2021 to 2023. Romano noted that Alonso’s presence and influence have been a “key factor” in the transfer.
According to The Athletic, Pellistri has agreed in principle to a four-year contract with Panathinaikos. While the exact fee has not been disclosed, it is hinted that Manchester United’s asking price is around €10 million/£8.5 million.
Manchester United’s winger positions are well-stocked with Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Ga
rnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony, and Amad Diallo, providing ample options for manager Erik ten Hag.
