Manchester United given three conditions to complete De Ligt transfer amidst medicals

According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United have been among the Premier League’s most active clubs this summer, and their transfer business appears far from over.

Despite a challenging period on the injury front, with Leny Yoro out for three months and Rasmus Højlund sidelined for six weeks, Erik ten Hag has been busy in the transfer window.

Reports suggest that Manchester United are looking to add further to their squad, with players such as Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee already arriving. The club aims to improve on their eighth-place finish in the Premier League and make an impact in Europe following their qualification for the Europa League.

United’s Premier League campaign begins in just over a week with a home match against Fulham. Their pre-season preparations concluded with a game against Liverpool in the United States.

Manchester United have shown interest in Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt, whom Ten Hag knows well from their time together at Ajax. Although discussions with Bayern are ongoing, United are actively seeking defensive reinforcements. De Ligt has struggled to secure a regular spot at Bayern but has impressed his teammates, including goalkeeper Manuel Neuer. Neuer commented, “I’ve always been very happy with him at my side. He’s a real defender who likes to fight; he throws himself into the fight, even in aerial duels, and he’s always there. I get on very well with him on the pitch, but in the end it’s the club that makes the decision.”

MEN Sport notes that while the Premier League and the Bundesliga have different demands, commitment and willingness to fight are crucial in England, qualities De Ligt appears to possess. United faced defensive challenges last season due to injuries, and with Yoro already having issues early in his career, concerns about Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martínez persist.

In addition to De Ligt, Manchester United have reportedly scheduled a medical for Bayern defender Noussair Mazraoui. According to French outlet Foot Mercato, the medical is set for Tuesday, with Ten Hag aiming to secure Mazraoui before the Community Shield against Manchester City. Unlike De Ligt, Mazraoui has been part of Vincent Kompany’s squad for their pre-season in Korea and is expected to sign a five-year deal with United.

MEN Sport adds that while reports should be approached with caution, the move for Mazraoui could impact Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s future. Wan-Bissaka is reportedly attracting interest from West Ham United. Accelerating Mazraoui’s transfer and immediately integrating him into the squad for competitive fixtures could potentially affect his form and confidence as the new season begins.
