Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana offered a £30m deal to maintain No1 spot

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana offered a £30m deal to maintain No1 spot

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has endured a challenging campaign as pressure grows on his position at Old Trafford.

The Cameroon international was left out of the squad for the trip to Newcastle United on 13 April, where Ruben Amorim’s side suffered a 4-1 defeat with Altay Bayindir between the sticks.

Onana was recalled for Man United’s Europa League quarter-final second leg against Lyon on 17 April, but he conceded four goals despite his side making it through to the semi-finals with a 7-6 win on aggregate.

The 29-year-old, who moved to Old Trafford for £47.2million from Inter Milan in 2023, has kept just 10 clean sheets this season, having conceded 61 goals in 45 appearances.

Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider United could sell Onana to Saudi Arabia in a £30million deal this summer.

Former Old Trafford chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider Bart Verbruggen will be the next United goalkeeper following his performances for Brighton.

Man United face ‘big’ goalkeeper issue

Borson insisted United’s biggest issue will be finding a new goalkeeper to replace Onana.

He told Football Insider: “He’s got a book value of about £30million all in right now as of the end of the season.

“I think if you look at 30 June, it’s going to be about £30million.

“So, can they beat £30million this summer? It doesn’t feel like it.

“It’s just another problem, isn’t it?

“Maybe Saudi’s perfect for him when you think about it, and £30million feels doable. Maybe that’s the answer.

“They would probably break even on it from a PSR perspective.

“The bigger issue is they’ve got to find a new goalkeeper, which is really difficult and really expensive now these days, and quite a few teams are looking.”

Man United could agree Rasmus Hojlund deal

Football Insider revealed on 15 April United could cash in on striker Rasmus Hojlund this summer as they plan to sign an elite forward.

The 22-year-old is attracting interest in Serie A, where he made his name with Atalanta.

It is believed a number nine will be the priority for Amorim this summer as he looks to put his own stamp on the squad.

Manchester United may have had a rollercoaster season, but the Europa League presents a golden opportunity for silverware. Here are four reasons why they could go all the way:

European Pedigree

Manchester United are no strangers to European success. With multiple continental trophies under their belt, the club knows how to navigate the pressure and intensity of knockout football.

Ruben Amorim’s Tactical Edge

Under Ruben Amorim, United have shown tactical flexibility and defensive improvement. His ability to adapt mid-game and make bold decisions could be crucial in tight encounters.

Bruno Fernandes’ Leadership

As captain, Bruno’s experience and influence are vital. His work rate, set-piece quality, and ability to turn games around will be key in crunch moments.

Favorable Motivation

With the Premier League title out of reach, the Europa League becomes a ticket to champions league. This clear focus can galvanize the squad, turning disappointment into determination.

Don’t count them out—United

have the firepower, leadership, and experience to lift the trophy.
