Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag drops transfer tip before deadline
Erik ten Hag has indicated that Manchester United will sign at least one contract before the transfer window closes on Friday.
United are expected to bring in Fenerbahce goalkeeper Altay Bayındir while Dean Henderson is expected to join Crystal Palace, while Ten Hag are looking for a left-back while Luke Shaw is expected to be sidelined for around two months with a muscle injury.
Although United have signed Mason Mount to strengthen their midfield, they have been looking for a second midfielder throughout the summer and Mount will be out through injury until next month.
Crystal Palace sporting director Dougie Freedman was in the Old Trafford management box for United’s 3-2 comeback win over Nottingham Forest and Henderson’s 12-year partnership with United is effectively over. Henderson mingled with former Forest teammates at the Old Trafford tunnel following full-time.
Donny van de Beek and Hannibal Mejbri were again left out of the matchday squad due to the possibility they could leave. United expect Harry Maguire to stay on after a £30m move to West Ham fell through, while they failed to get a new offer for Scott McTominay, who had piqued interest from the Hammers.

United expect Harry Maguire to stay on after a £30m move to West Ham fell through, while they failed to get a new offer for Scott McTominay, who had piqued interest from the Hammers. Ten Hag believes United should have two players in each position and that Turkish international Bayindir would provide backup for Andre Onana.
“At United we work with the whole club. We have the same goals, we are 100 per cent committed and the communication is good,” said Ten Hag. “If that’s the case (that Henderson is leaving), we will carry the news, be well prepared and in full control.
“If there are transfers, we need to keep the squad competitive. It’s a difficult season with many games to play. We need a brace and in the goalkeeper position we need three at Premier League level, so we’ll take care of it.”
