Manchester United Puts Every Player In Their Squad For Sale Amid financial Crisis After A Dramatic Europa League Loss

Manchester United are bracing for a major squad overhaul after their 1-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final, a loss that has not only dashed their hopes of Champions League qualification but also triggered a severe financial crisis at the club.

According to sources close to Old Trafford, every player on the current roster — including club captain Bruno Fernandes — has been made available for transfer as part of a sweeping strategy to address a projected £100 million shortfall in revenue. The financial blow stems directly from missing out on Champions League participation and failing to secure a place in any European competition next season — a rarity that has only occurred once in the past 35 years.

The defeat in Bilbao means Manchester United will not benefit from the lucrative broadcast and matchday revenues associated with European tournaments, prompting drastic measures from club management. With the club’s wage bill and transfer spending in recent years exceeding £845 million, cost-cutting and asset liquidation have become unavoidable.

As a result, United are now open to offers for all players, regardless of seniority or status. This includes key figures such as Casemiro, Harry Maguire, Luke Shaw, André Onana, Alejandro Garnacho, Rasmus Højlund, Kobbie Mainoo, and Fernandes.

The financial implications of the defeat could also affect the club’s summer transfer ambitions. Reported targets such as Liam Delap, Matheus Cunha, and Victor Osimhen may now be out of reach, further complicating the rebuild.

Manager Ruben Amorim, whose future at the club remains uncertain after a tumultuous season, may be tasked with leading the squad through a transitional period if he remains in charge.

to Punch, Bruno Fernandes has made it clear he is willing to leave Manchester United if the club decides to sell him as part of a much-needed squad rebuild following their heartbreaking Europa League final defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

United suffered a narrow 1-0 loss in Bilbao on Wednesday night, with Brennan Johnson scoring the decisive goal. The defeat only deepened the disappointment of a dismal campaign for the Red Devils.

In the wake of the loss, United’s manager Ruben Amorim expressed his openness to walking away from the club if the board no longer saw him as part of their future, stating he would leave without any demand for compensation. Now, Fernandes — United’s captain and arguably their most influential player this season — has echoed that sentiment.

The 30-year-old midfielder, who has consistently delivered standout performances despite the club’s struggles, said he would not stand in the way if the club felt his departure was necessary for financial or strategic reasons.

“I’ve always been upfront about my commitment,” Fernandes explained. “I’ve always said I would stay until the club tells me it’s time to go. I want to do more and help bring United back to its best days. But if the time comes when the club feels I’m not part of that future, or they need to cash in for whatever reason, then that’s football. You can never predict what’s next.”

Despite being one of United’s key players, Fernandes was unable to leave his mark during the final at San Mamés. Reflecting on the defeat, he admitted it was a devastating outcome.

“We came into this final determined to win,” he said. “It’s a very sad day. We had some great performances throughout this competition, but today was what mattered most — the final, the chance to write history in the Europa League. Unfortunately, it wasn’t our day. Football can be brutal, and this time, the pain is ours.”

Fernandes, who joined United in 2020, also stood by manager Ruben Amorim, despite the team’s alarming slump in form. Since taking over in November, Amorim has managed only six league wins, with United languishing in 16th place in the Premier League — on course for their worst finish since being relegated in 1974.

Nevertheless, Fernandes insisted that Amorim retains the support of the squad. “We all believe he’s the right man,” he said. “Yes, results haven’t gone our way, and that’s what managers are judged on. But we, the players, see more than just the results. We see his efforts to rebuild the spirit and ambition of this club. We’re united behind him as he works to bring Manchester United back to where it belongs — fighting for major trophies.”
