Manchester United take on Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday at 8pm

Manchester United take on Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday at 8pm.

This is how we expect Erik ten Hag to enter the lineup.

The defeat against Bayern Munich is the third in a row for Manchester United, who cannot afford to make it the fourth.

A traditional team awaits us in Burnley, but it is not the Burnley we have struggled with in the past; instead a football brawl awaits us.

Erik ten Hag has been boosted by the potential return of at least two of his best players, who would likely feature in his ideal team.

But the importance of this match should not be underestimated, with Ten Hag already in the thick of it, a result is needed to quell the murmurs of discontent. Here is our predicted XI for United’s match against Burnley…

Manchester United predicted XI

A tough night in Munich on Wednesday, but the players must be ready to play again and we expect Erik to name a fairly similar XI overall.

Andre Onana will start in goal, amid the ridiculous media attention he received after a midweek mistake.

Defensively, Diogo Dalot and Sergio Reguilon are likely to remain at full-back, with the latter impressing in midweek.

Midfield is where the first return comes in, with Raphael Varane needing to return to the starting XI at a crucial time. His absence was huge and his return makes us so much better defensively, with Lisandro Martinez alongside him in desperate need of some form. In midfield it seems that Sofyan Amrabat will not be able to start, but should be placed on the bench. This leaves Ten Hag with the same pivot as Casemiro and Christian Eriksen who destroyed Bayern.

Bruno Fernandes will start in the number 10 role where he is so effective, and will need to be at the highest level to help United get out of this crisis.

Marcus Rashford will play on the left but he needs to improve his level of commitment. Opposite Rashford on the right, we think he will be a returning Mason Mount, who has thrived from that position in the past. In attack, Rasmus Hojlund will start and will try to increase the open numbers on Wednesday evening.

Manchester United XI Prediction: Onana; Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Reguilon; Casemiro, Eriksen; Monte, Bruno, Rashford; Hojlund.
