Manchester United plan to reward Aaron Wan-Bissaka for improved form with new contract proposal
Premier League giants Manchester United have started talks with Aaron Wan-Bissaka over a possible contract extension, Fabrizio Romano has revealed on YouTube.
The England full-back has enjoyed a career boost under Erik ten Hag and has secured his place in the starting XI.
It represents a remarkable turnaround for a player who not long ago seemed headed for an exit from Old Trafford.
Romano previously confirmed that United had considered Celtic’s Josip Juranovic as a possible replacement for Wan-Bissaka if he left the club. However, the 25-year-old’s improved performances and current status at Old Trafford suggest the decision was ultimately the right one.
The club are currently in talks with the former Crystal Palace star over a new contract which reflects the positive impact of his improved form. Romano said on his YouTube account:
“Discussions between Wan-Bissaka and the Man United camp regarding a new deal are ongoing. Agreement on the new contract is not reached. But the conversation is ongoing and so it’s a possibility
Although no formal agreement has yet been reached, the fact that negotiations are still ongoing suggests that both sides are keen to expand their relationship. Wan-Bissaka’s outstanding performances since January strongly demonstrate his contribution. However, there is also the possibility that the Red Devils secure his market value.
His current contract with the club expires at the end of the season, meaning he could potentially leave without a transfer

This would be a disappointing result considering the £45 million plus £5 million involved
additional components that the club has invested in him
By securing his future at Old Trafford, Manchester United can gain some bargaining power and hope for a transfer fee if his departure becomes likely. Most recently, the veteran defender was left on the bench for the English giants during their recent defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion due to injury. We hope that his injury is not serious and that he can return with full enthusiasm to continue his journey of redemption. At the moment the player appears to be living up to expectations in a season that has seen more disappointments than successes for Manchester United
