Manchester United Transfer: Chelsea are confident expresses confidence and and assures Alejandro Garnacho that £50 million transfer deal is in place
Chelsea are reportedly confident of securing Manchester United winger Alejandro Garnacho before the transfer deadline. Enzo Maresca’s side has intensified efforts to sign the 20-year-old Argentine, with a formal offer expected soon. Sources from TEAMtalk suggest Chelsea are in a strong position, and Garnacho is reportedly open to a move to Stamford Bridge.
Meanwhile, Bayern Munich remains interested in Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku but may delay their pursuit until the summer. Nkunku, who has struggled for Premier League minutes this season, has been linked with a departure this month. However, journalist Christian Falk revealed Bayern’s ability to fund the deal depends on selling existing players, which could see Nkunku stay at Chelsea until the end of the season.
Chelsea have also confirmed the departure of 19-year-old forward Jimmy-Jay Morgan, who joins Gillingham on loan for the rest of the season. Morgan, a 2023 signing from Southampton, has impressed in Premier League 2 matches with six goals in 10 appearances but will seek regular senior football at Gillingham.Watch live soccer online
In midfield, Chelsea have decided against recalling Andrey Santos or Lesley Ugochukwu despite injuries to Romeo Lavia and Enzo Fernandez. With Lavia and Fernandez sidelined, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall made his first Premier League start during Chelsea’s 3-1 victory over Wolves. Despite this, manager Enzo Maresca dismissed the idea of recalling loaned midfielders or making a new signing, expressing confidence in his current options, including Moises Caicedo and Dewsbury-Hall.
When asked about possible recalls or new signings, Maresca said, “No, we have enough players at the moment to cover the situation with Moi [Caicedo], Enzo [Fernandez], and Kiernan [Dewsbury-Hall]. The intention is not to go for one more midfielder.”
On the defensive front, Chelsea is reportedly close to finalizing a deal for Strasbourg defender Mamadou Sarr. This move appears more likely following Strasbourg’s loan acquisition of Andrew Omobamidele from Nottingham Forest. Sarr is expected to join Chelsea on a permanent transfer, with Omobamidele’s arrival at Strasbourg potentially easing the way for the deal to be completed.
As the January transfer window approaches its final stages, Chelsea fans can anticipate further developments as the club refines its squad for the season’s demands.
As of January 29, 2025, there is no public statement from Alejandro Garnacho’s agent specifically reassuring him about the likelihood of a transfer to Chelsea. However, recent developments indicate ongoing interest from Chelsea in the Manchester United winger. Notably, Garnacho’s agents, Carlos Cambeiro and Quique De Lucas from the Lead3rs agency, were observed attending a Chelsea match at Stamford Bridge, which has fueled speculation about a potential move.
Reports suggest that Chelsea is considering a bid for Garnacho, with Manchester United valuing him at approximately £50 million. Additionally, Napoli has shown interest in Garnacho as a replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who recently transferred to PSG.
While these activities indicate significant interest, there is no definitive information confirming that a deal with Chelsea is imminent.
