Marc Cucurella’s time at Chelsea could come to an end in January, with reports suggesting the Spaniard wants a move from Stamford Bridge in the next transfer window.
The 25-year-old is yet to play a single match in the new Premier League season. Reports suggest Manchester United were close to signing him this summer as cover for the injured Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia.
Erik ten Hag’s side ultimately opted to loan Sergio Reguillon from Tottenham after talks with Chelsea over a deal for Cucurella stalled.
The full-back, who made his only appearance of the season for the club in the 2-1 EFL Cup win against AFC Wimbledon, now has “a January exit in his sights”, according to The Sun. Media reports claim the defender is ‘disappointed’ after his move to Old Trafford fell through and claim he could return to Spain on loan, with ‘Real Madrid quietly monitoring his situation’.

Cucurella made 33 appearances for the club in all competitions last season but is set to leave the Blues amid uncertainty over how much game time he will receive under new manager Pochettino.
He left Brighton for Chelsea in a £62million deal in 2022 but endured a difficult 12 months in south London.
Shortly after arriving at the club, the defender’s house was also broken into.
Cucurella also suffered a soft tissue injury that sidelined him for the final seven games of the 2022-23 season.
The Blues, meanwhile, face his former club Brighton in the EFL Cup on Tuesday and Cucurella could feature in the match. It would be only his second appearance in a Chelsea shirt so far in the new season.
Cucurella’s contract at Stamford Bridge expires in 2028, with Newcastle also showing interest in signing him in the summer.
