MUN vs FUL; Manchester United team News, possible lineup and kick off time for the PL opener
Manchester United will play host to Fulham in their opening game of the 2024-25 English Premier League season on Friday, August 16, where they will be looking for a victory to commence their journey in the campaign on a positive note.
The Erik ten Hag-led Red Devils will be going into the high-profile contest after their disappointing Community Shield loss to Manchester City last weekend, and they will be looking for a victory over Fulham to bounce back to winning ways.
Team News:
Ahead of Manchester United’s Premier League opener against Fulham on August 16, 2024, Erik ten Hag faces a challenging selection dilemma due to a string of injury concerns and fitness issues.
Manchester United’s defense continues to be a major worry. Despite the recent arrivals of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui from Bayern Munich, who could make their debuts against Fulham, the team is still grappling with significant absences, according to a report by Sports Mole.
Leny Yoro, another new signing, will be sidelined for several months after a foot injury sustained during pre-season. Additionally, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, and Victor Lindelof remain unavailable, further depleting United’s defensive options. Although Harry Maguire played against Manchester City, he is not yet fully match-fit, adding to the defensive uncertainties.
In attack, Manchester United will miss the services of Rasmus Hojlund, last season’s joint-top league scorer for the club. Hojlund’s absence means that potential strike partner Joshua Zirkzee, who did not feature in the Community Shield, could be called upon to lead the line. However, Jadon Sancho, who has been out of the spotlight recently, or captain Bruno Fernandes may be deployed as a false nine if the situation demands it.
Manchester United possible starting lineup vs Fulham:
Onana; Dalot, De Ligt, Martinez, Mazraoui; Casemiro, Mainoo; Amad, Fernandes, Rashford; Zirkzee.
Kickoff Time For The Game:
The English Premier League game will get underway at exactly 8 PM (Nigerian Time).
