“In the next 24 hours”: Man United to complete signing of ‘quality’ 25-year-old within 24 hours

Altay Bayindir could become a Manchester United player within 24 hours after the Premier League giants conducted medical tests on the Fenerbahce goalkeeper.

Like with Rasmus Hojlund – the severity of his injury played down as the new £64 million striker prepares to make his Manchester United debut – the Red Devils were determined to do their due diligence on Altay Bayindir too.

And, after conducting medical tests, United were obviously convinced that Bayindir’s recent back problem was not quite as serious as some have suggested.

Altay Bayindir in and Dean Henderson out
According to The Athletic, the Turkey international could now be unveiled at Old Trafford by the close of play on Wednesday. His arrival will also pave the way for Dean Henderson to say his goodbyes.

Henderson has completed his own medical tests and will join Crystal Palace for an initial £15 million, rising to £20 million with add-ons.

Bayindir, 6ft 6ins tall and boasting five caps for Turkey, will act as a back-up to Andre Onana at Old Trafford. A fine shot-stopper, Bayindir is also an impressive passer of the ball. His forward-thinking distribution should see him fit in well under Ten Hag, with Onana’s potential absence during the African Cup of Nations meaning there will be plenty of opportunities for Bayindir to make a name for himself in his new home.

‘A quality goalkeeper’
“I gave him the first captaincy in Ankaragucu. He took an important step in his career by transferring to Fenerbahce,” Bayindir’s former coach Mustafa Kaplan tells Calendar.

“A quality goalkeeper. When I talked to him, he said that he wanted to make money for the club if he left Fenerbahce. He’s done that. He takes another important step.

“When I said ‘Altay will go to a very big team in Europe’, there were people laughing at me! But it has turned out exactly as I said.

“I think if he takes the chance he gets, he’ll rock. Altay is an ambitious goalkeeper with big goals. He is opening a new chapter in his career. I think he will be successful in England and make a name for himself.

“I wish him success.”
