Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Manchester United really should’ve signed 25-year-old Arsenal player
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has claimed that Manchester United should’ve signed Arsenal star Declan Rice when he was still the manager.
The Norwegian spent nearly two years at the helm at Old Trafford. He fared better than most other managers since the Sir Alex Ferguson era, but he didn’t always get the players he wanted to sign. Rice was one of them.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer says Manchester United should’ve signed Arsenal star Declan Rice
Declan Rice has been an incredible player in the Premier League for years now.
Ever since the Englishman started playing consistently for West Ham United in midfield, everybody could tell he had the potential to become a superstar.
Manchester United were constantly linked with a move to sign Rice and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has now confirmed that he really wanted him.
However, for one reason or another, United decided against it, and Arsenal secured his signature last summer for a club-record fee.
In the latest episode of Stick to Football on The Overlap, Solskjaer said when asked about Rice: “Yeah, I really, really like him as a player. We discussed him a few times. I think we would’ve done well with him in midfield. I think his legs, covering the pitch, I think he improved a lot on his playmaking as well.”

When Gary Neville asked Solskjaer if Rice was available at the time, he said: “Yeah! Obviously, he would’ve cost some money but, we could’ve and should’ve gone for him.”

Manchester United would’ve been incredible if they signed Rice
Declan Rice is arguably the best midfielder in the Premier League right now.
The 25-year-old Englishman possesses all the qualities you would want from your midfielder. He has added goals and assists to his game now too, and he could lead Arsenal to the Premier League and Champions League titles this season.
If Manchester United had signed Rice when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was the manager, they would’ve gone to another level. He would’ve made them so much better than they have been over the years, but the Glazers and everyone else in charge decided against it.
We can all agree now that was a terrible mistake.
